Where are you from?
I'm curious to know where ~ users are from!
I live in the United States in the greatest state in the union (Minnesota, of course!) The land of Target, passive-aggression, and wishing Prince wasn't dead. Oh, and 10,000 11,842 lakes.

Yes! So happy for you guys as well! What else is going on aside from the abortion ban overturn?
Absolute good riddance to that blasphemy law. It was deliberately worded to be almost impossible to actually convict someone under also which is just ridiculous. Apparently it has been referenced to by Islamic countries to defend their own religious laws too which is outright scary.
Hey that's pretty sweet. I remember a while back that the government didn't really want a referendum because it would be a waste of resources. Good to see that it can now be properly removed
Oh goodness, I didn't know either of those existed! Do you think people will be able to come home to vote so soon after they did it for the abortion ban? Will this cause an issue?
Canada. Land of beavers, hockey and maple syrup.
Canada here too. You forgot the murderous geese.
I'm from beyond the wall. Home of giants and blue eyed people.
Reykjavík, Iceland checking in.
Ísland bezt í heimi!
Now we are 2.
Yay, let's take over the world.
I really want to visit Iceland some day. Any recommendations?
...so by that I assume you don't want me to list you as Canadian?
steve: 1
I like this idea.
Going with Canada for geographical purposes. Hope that's ok! :'D What did I get myself into?
My Canada Includes Quebec
Do I take that to mean you are from Canada and thus, I should +1 Canada?
*I now see your post!
Yes.. sorry for the possible confusion. I also commented below. +1 from Toronto.
Mon Canada comprend toujours le Québec. :)
So you're the one that got my username! :)
India! Probably the only one from here.
Turns out there's a bunch of us :)
This must be the only place on the planet with a bunch of Indians! Except for... you know... the whole planet. :-)
naaaaaaa, I'm from India as well! :)
Big up from Delhi!
Haha, o/ from Mumbai
Me too
MeToo as well
Hyderabadi here! If you're Indian, at least you won't ever be alone anywhere, lol. We are so many..
My wife's family is from Hyderabad but we live in the US. I've been all over India...it is such a fascinating place.
Does it count if I have a British passport now but my soul demands samosa, ghee rice, ras malai and chutney?
You forgot Chicken Tikka Masala and Kufli :)
chicken tikka masala is the national dish here in the UK. Bloody brits, appropriating our culture.
I miss proper masala dosas more than I miss those things!
I lived in India last year. I'm amazed that Masala Dosas aren't on every street corner in the UK. Absolutely incredible.
So, I'm the ninth one.
I'm from India too!
I live in Southern California here!
The land of sunshine minus the humidity (sorry Florida).
Also we like cannabis a lot.
Also SoCal, Huntington Beach specifically!
Long Beach yo!
Another SoCal resident here, although I've not been seeing much of our famous sunshine recently.
It's supposed to be summer now, damn it!
A couple of good weeks of beach weather will be enough to satisfy me.
All I ask is for June and July to be ~70F.
Are you new to southern California? I grew up by the beach there and June gloom was always a thing. IIRC, its the warm air mixing with the cold ocean that causes it.
I've lived around here most of my life, so I know that June gloom is the way it usually is. Doesn't stop me from complaining though...
City of Angeles representin'. Can't understand why anyone would live anywhere else...well, except the 405, and housing prices and fire storms. But Woody Harrelson pulled up alongside me on a Harley at a stop light and said howdy.
SFV here! Dang, there are a lot of socal folks here. Anyone interested in a treasure hunt? I've been working on a big one lately. It'll be mostly around the valley, hollywood hills, topanga, maybe santa clarita, and maybe angeles crest (still debating the last two). It'll involve a decent bit of hiking, some simple crypto, some compass and map work, and hopefully some good ol fashioned bad poetry hints.
I don't see Russia there. Let's fix that! Hopefully, we can all be friends despite what is going on in world politics.
You are not your government (and I'm not even uncritically against your government, though I have some biases). I've met several fine Russian people. I also have a soft spot for Russian folk music, but I bet you didn't make any of it yourself.
I'm glad to have you here. If you promise not to be a Russian spy, I'll promise not to be a fat, racist imbecile or whatever the stereotypes of our countries are. ;-)
Wait-wait-wait. A spy is the stereotype? I thought we all were vodka-drinking bearded men with juggling bears as pets. Or just gopniks, I guess.
Well, with recent drama in the US... sorta!
I'm from italy but moved to London 2 years ago.
Hope to see more non-US users on tildes soon enough. Unfortunately in europe there isn't a big community like reddit is for the US. Most people only use facebook or twitter that make it difficult to cater to tildes approach of online discussion.
Hello fellow countrymen! I'm writing from Modena, Italy
I'm writing from Florence, Italy. I'm American, but I've lived here for 25 years.
Well, that's a long time! Even though I was born here, as an Italian I'm only 2 years your senior
I told everyone I'm not reading child comments anymore, but I lied. Want me to put you down as Italy? Or USA? I'd say Italy, but it's your choice.
Any preference about how you'd like to be counted? I'm not being strict about it. Otherwise I'll just put UK because that's where you are now.
*Actually, I decided on Italy for now.
Italy is fine don't worry, I don't follow lots of events in italy but have still lots of connection there that keep me up to date with insight that a non-italian wouldn't have :)
I'll do whatever you want! If you feel more from the UK, I will totally put UK.
*My brain forgot that Canada and the UK are different.
It's totally cool man, leave it italy :)
Yikes. I've been doing this too long. You are not Canadian at all! Haha. Hence the :), I assume.
You mistaken me for @cirrus I suppose, quite similar name and he's in canada right now but born in China :P
Hungary, Budapest.
USA! Chicago, specifically.
And another!
Chicago has a cult-like following here in Toronto, specifically in the comedy/improv scene. I'm planning a trip there next summer to drive route 66. Any suggestions in the area?
Hmm, depends how much time you have and what your interests are! I'm assuming you're already planning on visiting Second City and the like. My favorite museum is the Art Institute - if you do that plan on spending a whole day there, but there are a lot of very high quality museums for different interests. The Museum of Science & Industry is great for sciencey stuff, the Field Museum is top notch for natural and human history (and is currently installing the world's single largest discovered dinosaur in their main hall, displacing Sue the TRex who is the most complete TRex skeleton ever found [and who has been moved to her own exhibit, not removed completely]), The Shedd Aquarium is an amazing aquarium, the Adler Planeterium is a little more geared towards kids but if you're really into Astronomy is probably still well worth a visit. And then you have all the food from amazing pizza to local delicacies like Italian Beef and Chicago-style hot dogs, to Micehlin restaurants like Aliant (if you can get a reservation and can afford it). There are just amazing public spaces if you just want to walk around and people-watch. Millenium Park is famous for the bean but Chicagoans use it heavily for the large grassy space and gardens. And it's right next to Grant Park which is its own beautiful place with the spectacular Buckingham Fountain. And my god, the architecture! I'm a little biased in this category as I'm an architect myself, but you won't find any city better. I highly highly recommend the river boat tour, which puts you on a pleasant boat ride down the Chicago river with a docent who will talk about all the buildings you pass. That can be found through the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
That's really just the tip of the iceberg. If you can give me some more details I would be happy to help further!
Thank you so much, this is a great starting point. I love science (especially astronomy) so this has me really excited.
i'm here now!
Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay!
Used to live here, I always enjoy it :D
Vermont, USA. The land of no billboards but lots of cows.
No billboards, huh? I didn't know that!
*“We need to provide information to the traveler, but do not want to compromise our natural scenery. Tourism is the number one industry in the state. And the lack of advertising is one of the most commonly reported things that visitors appreciate about Vermont.” -John Kessler, chair of the Vermont Travel Information Council source
The signage rules in Vermont are very strict and really just wonderful. It is so nice to come home, ahh. Advertising is obscenity.
Hawai'i doesn't allow billboards either. :)
Excellent :-) That is an incredible incentive for me to visit Hawai'i.
Hawaii checking in. We also have no billboards and we recently had Bison on the beach. Looks like we've got stuff in common.
Woot! 808ers Unite!
Whereabouts? I'm from Middlebury. My answer to this poll is Reno, though, I'm based in Reno.
New Hampshirite here, who's former town has been turned from trees and rocks into billboards and ridiculously useless houses. Wanna trade :(
And fantastic breweries!
Seattle, Washington checking in!
Me as well!
Seattle here as well!
Likewise!
Hey, same!
Was raised in Minnesota, moved to Texas to live with my boyfriend. I miss not dying of heat.
Grew up in MN, moved south to Nebraska and I also miss the weather this time of the year. Then December hits and we have a "cold snap" where it drops below zero a few times and I don't think it's quite so bad.
USA, Wisconsin. Chicago ex-pat.
fancy a spotted cow? i miss that new glarus brewery
It's good stuff. I prefer Belgians, myself.
Moon Man > Spotted Cow, though there wasn't a single beer from New Glarus I wouldn't try. Easily what I miss most about the land of cheese
I'm sorry, you all seem to be forgetting about Two Women.
THANK YOU.
jeez why does everyone forget about the best beer NG makes...
Appleton Wisconsin, USA - sending out greetings to all!
Originally from upstate NY (nothing like NYC!) - just a couple hours south of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains! Couple hours east of one of the great wonders of the country Niagara Falls!
Very happy to be here!!!
Mexico city.
What's up fellow Mexican :). I am form Campeche, but currently living in Guadalajara.
Norway! Sorry @apoctr for those vikings you had to deal with.
Yep, they don't work yet. Should be fairly easy to implement but it's not higher priority for the time being.
You can just click on the username and send a PM if you've something urgent to notify to a user anyway.
I haven't seen a post stating they do work. :/ @chra94
Scandinavia is awesome :O I hope we get to see more Vikings on here, of all kinds. You come from a very cool and fascinating part of the world, I can't wait to see what Tilde's geography discussions will be like. Although at our statistics so far, ~geo.nordic or ~geo.scandinavia will wind up with 10 Norwegians and like 65 American lurkers... :P
Thanks. Hit me up if you ever come to Norway and want some/any local information. :)
Sunny, hot, Phoenix, AZ checking in. It's only gonna be 109F this weekend.
I’m a Phoenix escapee myself (well Chandler, but who’s counting?). Can’t say I miss that heat, but go get some real Mexican food for me when you get a chance 🌮
France here, though I'm now mostly nomadic so a
nomad
category? ;)Sorry, buddy, you get France! Haha
Nom de Dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperie de connard d'enculé de ta mère ;)
Such a beautiful language... :-D
Google translate to the rescue!
« Pardon my French »
From the SF Bay Area, studying in LA at the moment.
I live in Canada. Glad to see that while the site is still young, we're already a diverse group!
Charleston, SC, USA. Though I grew up in Southern MN and went to the University of Minnesota!
shoutout from Hilton Head!
Just went on vacation there last week for the second year in a row, and I'm going back for a wedding at the end of June. Loved all the golf courses I've gotten to play - 6 so far.
watch out for sharks, bad year apparently
I became a dad 4 months ago, so I spent a grand total of 4-5 hours on the beach during the week I was there. Didn’t even get in the ocean. Babies hate the heat and sand apparently.
Eh, wait until it reach 2-3 years old.
I lost count of the time I literally just jumped from laid on my back to full sprint to save him from drowining in 10 cm of water. Fun times!
For sure. My 2.5 year old nephew was there, so I got to witness some of that firsthand.
Hey! Congrats! I've heard similar things about babies, but I wouldn't know. I know some love the water, though!
Thank you! He did enjoy when we dipped his feet in the water. It was more the wind and direct sunlight he wasn’t a fan of.
And Columbia! Nice to see SC well represented here.
Current student at the U here! What year did you graduate?
I graduated from CSE in 2014.
Kentucky, USA!
Nice to meet you, buddy! I just had to be the first boobs. Cool to see youre the first Buddy.
Hey! I'm originally from Kentucky, but I'm currently in Michigan. I hope you all are staying warm right now!
Czech Republic!
Pennsylvania, USA
Eastern PA checking in! There are at least two of us now!
South central!
USA, born in South Korea, grew up in Wisconsin, currently in Minnesota. And I love Target, hate the passive-aggressive MN nice thing (especially when I catch myself doing it), and totally miss Prince. Duck duck grey duck forever.
I'm glad you came over from the dark side (WI, for all you strangers) ;-) Just kidding. I worked in Superior for ~5 years and thought it was exactly the same!
Hahaha, totally! They’re similar, for sure. There might be more beer in WI.
I'm from the land you all call NOPEFUCKTHATFUCKINGSPIDERSANDSHIT or Australia, whatever's easier
NOPEFUCKTHATFUCKINGSPIDERSANDSHIT it is then!
haha fantastic!
Spiders and all, I think I would love Australia!
I'll probably get banished for this... the spiders, snakes and all other stuff honestly isn't that bad as long as you are aware they are about, they don't bother you.
Take Huntsmans, they might be huge, hairy and gallop like a majestic horse with 8 legs at the speed of light. BUT they are good people, they just want to chill in the corner and eat other bugs and spiders. I name them when I find them in the house that way my wife won't make me squish them. The kids help me catch and release them outside.
fuck funnelwebs though, those assholes are agressive. Every other spider here is usually either chill if you leave it alone, or harmless enough that you don't need to worry about it, but a funnelweb will try to bite you just because you happen to exist.
You're up in NSW? I'm down in Victoria, so white tips are the fucker down here and geez do some of those get big. The last one I stomped (the only spider I will if it's inside) was an inch long. I swear the prick was trying to move in and take my family as his own
yep, Illawarra region. We don't get many white-tips here, and to be honest you usually only have to keep an eye out for redbacks in garages and such. Most of the spiders that come indoors are pretty chill.
I've not seen a red back in years, the tiny jumping spiders are always fun. my girls argue over who will get to take them outside when they find one, last time there was a ton of "it tickles my hand!"
Are you trying to get away without responding to the poll...? ;-P
To be fair, i thought my knowledge of aussie spiders counted as an answer of sorts. That being said, put me down for an aussie.
You never know, you could be Google in disguise!
YES! We don't have spiders quite like the Huntsman in the urban Midwest USA (I think it's too fucking cold here!), but I am a fan. If they're in your house, they have something to eat. I tend to introduce myself and lay some ground rules when I find one - "Hey, we're cool. BUT, stay off me, my people and my bed, and we will remain cool." It would definitely take some doing, but I think I could get used to Huntsmans.
Huntsmans are super chill, they get a bad rap because of their size and how fast the move. They don't make webs so they just sit up the the corner or in the middle of the wall trying to "hide" but it's a tad hard to hide when you are a deep brown, have 8 legs and are about 3 inches from toe to toe lol
Slovenia, Central Europe
Hey, another Slovene user on Tildes!
Born in the UK but living in Spain. Trying to do my best not get fucked by brexit and little-englander mentalities.
Preference between being marked down for UK or Spain?
I guess the UK, since the question is where we're 'from' not where we are :)
Florida Man Checking In! (Not THE FloridaMan thank god)
Are you sure about that?
The Netherlands!
Mijn broeder, ik heb u gevonden.
Ik voel mij opeens thuis!
You guys. This is so cute.
ik kom uit de netherlands!
Ireland
Vancouver, BC
Another New Zealander. Wellington to be more specific. Now living in London.
London UK?
Wellington, New Zealand here as well but living in Sydney, NOPEFUCKTHATFUCKINGSPIDERSANDSHIT/Australia
I'm Finnish by heritage! But in no other ways.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, went to the U of M in the Twin Cities after high school, dropped out after a year and a half. Joined the Navy, moved to Charleston, SC then went to Washington for a while. Got out of the Navy, now I live in Columbia, SC since January and will be in SC probably the rest of my life.
Haha, love that there are like 3 people from SC in here and two of us went to the UofM.

I'm really sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Delaware? Germany?
germany, sorry :)
No, I apologize for my America-centric worldview. ;-)
Another German here. Sei gegrüßt. :) (Hello on Germany, for all the other people here)
Grüße ebenfalls! (greetings as well!)
Another german here
Little comedy: Ukrainian “de” is “where”.
South African here. Another one for your list.
Canada! Ontario, specifically. but for the past few years I've been in the Portland, OR area.
Ireland checking in
Australia here. Fighting a kangaroo as we speak.
How's the sun?
tally up another one for USA. west coast best coast... but i really have no grounds to judge that, since i have not been to the east coast.
I will keep that in mind lol
Iowa, USA.... We got corn. lol
Hello, neighbor!
I haven't seen Colorado yet! Colorado checking in. Colorado is B-e-a-u-tiful!
Northern Indiana. Trump supporters and Wal-mart as far as the eye can see. Oh, and corn, we have that too. Yay.
But there's a lot of difference between Gary (armpit of the union), Fort Wayne (a shopping mall employing half a million people), and the corn country in between!
I'm assuming you're asking more about current location. I'm not a citizen, but I'm located in South Korea, long term.
We gotta pin up a map.
I made a quick map here!
Hello from Canada | Bonjour du Canada | She:kon Koránhe nontá:ke
Ooh, what’s that language? I’m assuming it’s a Native one
NZ!
Am I the only kiwi here?
Nope, I am too! We're probably the only two though.
I'm a bit late to the party but another Kiwi here!
Belgium. :)
From Canada but lives in Hawaii, because winter.
Traitor! :P
No, but serious. I am jealous. We just had our first touch of snow a few days ago here in Toronto. :(
The snow that fell on Sept. 22 where I grew up has only accumulated since!
I'm from São Paulo, Brazil. I mean, not that city, but it's close :P
o/
I live in São Paulo, the city. Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.
Cool! I have been thinking about a Reddit Meetup in São Paulo, but I need to be sure there won't be a new strike Monday. Check the subreddit if you are interested!
Quatro brasileiros ;)
Pode botar um baiano nessa conta!
Another Englishman here. It does mainly seem so so far. There seem's to be quite a range, though.
It seems you are correct! It makes sense, but I hope we get some more non-US/Canadians. I get very excited when I can add a new country to the list!
I'm a bit of a cheat though. Born in the UK but lived most of my life in South Africa, so I went with SA for the list.
I'm asking people to self identify! I'm not the boss of y'all. :-)
Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Austria, land of Red Bull, Schnitzel and Mozart.
Milton Keynes called, they want visitation rights for Red Bull.
Hey, another F1 fan!
Yup :)
New York City, baby.
Atlanta, GA
Woo hoo, another Georgian. I was beginning to think I was the only one. Of course I'm from South Georgia, so I'm not sure you guys from Atlanta know that anything South of Macon exists!
Philippines.
St. Paul, Minnesota :)
Woo! Hot out there, eh?
Good ole Oregon, USA. Checking in!
Me as well, but I live in the dry, hot, eastern part with lots of conservatives and no weed.
Memphis, TN USA
901 represent!
Actually in Olive Branch, MS but not many on the internet knows where that is LOL
It’s all pretty much the same thing. I technically live in Germantown but I used to live in Horn Lake.
UK! (Cornwall)
This has made my day.
All over the place, haha. My dad works as an engineer for the US Navy but I'm a German citizen/lived for several years in Germany, so yeah. I was born in New Hampshire but now I live in Hawaii. I've spent years living in Japan and Norway too. If there is a nomad category I think I would be a good fit :D if not then USA probably makes the most sense.
It's nice to see the number of international people just slightly edge out USA, discussions with people from other countries is always very interesting. Since we rely on word of mouth though it makes sense there are many more USA and Canadian users right now then any other.
Ohio, USA here. The state that everyone keeps forgetting
The state that everyone should forget. #DeleteOhio
I will sometimes tell people when they find out I grew up in Ohio that there are only three kinds of people who come out of Ohio: Serial Killers, incredibly depressed people, and presidents. I leave it to my audience to guess which I am (Spoiler: ALL THREE BITCHES)
Fellow Ohioan here. Ohio has produced more astronauts than any other state. Ohio is so bad, the people living there feel an overwhelming need to leave the planet just to escape the state.
My favorite National song is Bloodbuzz Ohio (I'm originally from Western PA and have some insight here) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfySK7CLEEg
Minnesota! I grew up in Duluth. I live in Hawaii right now, but I’m coming home to the Twin Cities this Fall for a job. What part of Minnesota are you from?
I grew up in the north, then moved to Duluth for school, now I live in the cities!
What part of the north? I'm from the NW corner, over near Grand Forks/TRF area.
You're trying to Single White Female me, aren't you...? -_-
Ah, sorry, didn't mean to be awkward! I'm just always curious about what people consider to be northern MN, I've had people describe Alexandria as north which is a little ridiculous for me.
Nope! Iron Range!
Home sweet home! I lived right off Lake Superior, like 2 blocks. Went to East high school. What year did you graduate college there? You might know some of my friends
Poland!
+1 for Poland
First Croatian on the site reporting in

Brasil, where at least one person also wishes Prince wasn't dead (greatest musician of my lifetime, and certainly to remain in that pedestal until I expire).
I'll give you the same answer I tell everyone:
I am from The Moon.
Technically, I was born in Germany and lived there for two years then moved to the states (my dad was in the US Air Force), then moved back to Germany for four years and then back to the states and have been here since then. Extrapolate what you can from that.
Germany
Canada here! Anyone else from Ottawa?
I think I'm the first Middle-Easterner here... Palestinian, grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, currently living in Cambridge, MA.
I'm picking Lebanon because you "grew up" there. Let me know if you want me to change it!
How would you like me to list you? Lebanon? Palestine?
USA, East Coast checking in!
Add one to the U.S. counter please.
In Paris France, grew up in Minnesota.
The west coast of Finland. Looks like I'm the fourth finn in this thread so far.
Oh dang @Petril... I didn't realize you were still updating this thread. That is freaking awesome!
Yeah, every once in a while! I get messages every time someone comments, so it's really easy.
That's awesome! Thanks for doing that. :)
I'm from Puerto Rico! I haven't seen anyone else mention the island , so I'm likely one of the few puertoricans here.
Cool! How are things where you live?
I know that you are a territory of the US and that you are US Citizens, but I feel like I'll list it separately from the US, just because I think it's cool to see it broken out rather than lumped in with the rest of the 100+ Americans. What do you think?
I'm still in high school and because of that I can't say much about how things are in general. I find it pretty chill. The worst part is being scared of another hurricane coming through.
I feel that, even though its technically part of the US, you should list it separately. Mostly because the language and culture difference is pretty drastic. In the end, it's up to you.
That's good! I've heard some more rural places still don't have power, so I'm glad that things are getting back to normal for you.
Thank you!
I was actually one of the lucky ones in terms of electricity and water. I got my electricity back a month later and the water service came back two days after the hurricane.
Edit: I now remembered that around mid August there was a news report that informed that 100% of the island had power. I can't find it, but I remember watching it.
Thank you!
I was actually one of the lucky ones in terms of electricity and water. I got my electricity back a month later and the water service came back two days after the hurricane.
It might be interesting to see the most popular countries (US, Canada, UK, Germany) split into states/territories/whatever. That would make the list very long though.
I'm from a city in the midwest best city in the whole wide wide world! Chitown USA, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way, Local Group
I live in the Dubai, in the UAE. Pretty sure there’s only one other person from there on this thread!

Rochester NY USA, home of Xerox, Kodak, B&L, RIT, garbage plates and the Toy Hall Of Fame.
Garbage plates are my fondest memories from the 2 or 3 times I’ve been there. White hots are amazing too, and I’ve been craving them ever since.
zweigle does ship the white hots (my favorite also, they make skinless ones now too), so there's that. Also there are pretty good recipes out there for the garbage plate. Between those two you should me able to live the dream (just be sure to grind your meat sauce like a civilized person).
Oh wow, I’m gonna look into that. Thanks for the tip!

Hello from the same city! Time to start ~rva? ;)
Nepal, a peaceful but pretty poor country.
I would be very surprised if I saw any other Nepali people here anytime soon.
That's interesting. Are you from Nepal originally? If so, do you just happen to be wealthy enough to have intenet access, or is that not what you meant by poor?
Glad to have you here!
Thanks!
Born and bred in Nepal. I live in Kathmandu, and go to a university in Dhulikhel.
By Nepali standards, I (thankfully) belong to a middle class family, so I did have Iregular nternet access from a very young age(10). If not for the Internet, I would be a completely different person today.
What I meanty by 'poor' is that Nepal has one of the lowest GDPs worldwide and a huge amount living below the poverty line. I live in the capital city, yet you can see garbage lying by the river side, people spitting and littering on streets, and 90% of traffic lights are out of order. Our infrastructure would have people rioting in any first-world nation (roads are all cracked, drinking water is hard to come by, you can't buy anything online using paypal or such, and so on).
It's basically your poorer-than-average third-world nation.
Apart from Lake Side, Pokhara. Weird place.
Yeah, but that's a major tourist area, so they keep it very clean.
Are you counting country of origin or current country of residence?
Canadian living in Bulgaria. Not many Bulgarians so far, unfortunately!
I'm asking everyone to self- identify. If you feel more like a Bulgarian than a Canadian then I'll put that. Or vice versa.
Well. I love Bulgaria but I definitely self-identify as Canadian. :D
Soooo. I'm gonna put Canada.
Hawai'i. Probably won't end up here after a while, but it's where I minion right now. :)

Well let’s go with American because my English is better than my Polish.
Romanian-Canadian here. So tally me up for whichever one you want
You pick! It doesn't affect me in the slightest. Could be where you live now, where you were born, or what you'd prefer to see up there.
Let's go with Romania then, I feel like they need some representation

Minneapolis, MN, USA.
By the way that's not how maps work! :D
Out of curiosity, how do maps work?
different hues would be for different categories. different saturation levels would be for what we are trying to show here -- intensity of one value (replies).
also instead of total count it should be replies per capita or replies per tildes accounts from that country so we can get a true representation of the proportion of replies. instead it will just show the countries with the highest population.
That makes total sense. Good thing I put a disclaimer already that it was crappy. I thought about doing the same color at different intensities, but i wanted it to be pretty and colorful.
As to your second point, I personally wasn't interested in proportion of users per capita. I was interested in the physical count. How many from each country and which countries had most. So I guess I'm glad I made the map I wanted and not the one that's "correct."
From Frederick, MD. Live in Allen, TX.

Tucson, Arizona, USA.
It's as close to the Old West as you can get, with Saguaro cacti everywhere and extreme desert heat in the summer.
It became the only city in America to be a UNESCO Culinary City, and our food scene is pretty awesome.
Our funky and eclectic 4th Ave. is being gentrified and it's a huge point of division and contention here.
The main demographics here are a ton of poor folks, some wealthy independent artists, and, for part of the year, a ton of college students.
It's a mostly friendly, no-bullshit kind of culture here. Lots of lovely freaks and weird characters.
However, the employment options are shit.
Thanks for the summation! That was fun to read.
