There's too much to do to get more than 8 hours. I wish I could sleep more.

I recall seeing one of the devs claiming that yeah. Thanks to all the websites essentially reposting the same title over and over again it's probably been buried.

The controversy isn't only about the women though. In fact most I've spoken to don't really care about that. What they do care about is the ridiculous face paint, katanas, prosthetic hand solider,...

It's pretty obvious all that junk is for the multiplayer that will bring them the big bucks.

would you like to see a bit stricter moderation to try to set the bar a bit higher to start?

Depends in what sense you mean. If it's something like

    Calm down or X

then sure. Once user's starts taking things too personally threads start to end up being an endless argument. The majority of the issues don't stem from the topic but from us the users.

How aggressively should I move topics if I think they don't fit?

If it doesn't fit move it I say. That's the whole point of the different categories right? Just make it so we can easily find it once it has been moved. If a topic suddenly vanishes and you aren't subscribed to wherever it was moved...you won't see it again.

Do you think we need some sort of global log to list topics that are removed?

    Absolutely. Makes ~ more transparent.

But when you're a straight, white male, you almost never experience hardships because of those identities.

I can understand Vekieh's point. A lot of alternatives ended up being visited by the same Reddit mods who quickly rounded up the same Subreddits they already owned. Making the change in community pointless to some people. Of course ~ isn't exactly going to work that way so @Vakieh I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I generally don't discuss politics with people but the few times I did it does get a bit exhausting. The problem I have with discussing it is people have trouble discussing it objectively. They get overly emotional which just leads to shouting matches and name calling. The moment that happens I stop the conversation and move on.

If you want more "diverse" and "minority" views you can't only limit it woman and sexual orientation. You'll have to also advocate for a more diverse political spectrum too then right? As of now the majority of ~ is Left-Leaning. So logically we should also try to welcome and recruit more Centrists and Right leaning folks too right?

so that we don't fall into the same straight white middle class male echo chamber trap.

I hate echo chambers too but you shouldn't discriminate people based solely off their skin color. Just because someone is heterosexual and white doesn't make them any less valuable of a user than a minority. Reddit's echo chamber issue doesn't only stem from the issues you've mentioned.

Since ~lgbt exists, intolerant users can now point to that tilde and say, "No, you over belong there, get out of our space."

I was in that thread you're referring to and nobody said anything remotely like that. All some users said was topics pertaining to LGBT belongs on LGBT, as do topics of tech belong to tech. Obviously there are some exceptions to this and once the voting mechanics get tweaked a bit better I'm sure it'll sort itself out better.

Why not specifically target often-overlooked voices for inclusion?

Why not specifically target users who are interested in high quality discussion?

Yeah exactly that. I wish I had recorded it but I was too busy just gaping at it. Edit: Course it would've been recorded with a flip phone which probably would've looked awful.

Same here. On Reddit pretty much anything can get downvoted. There was a time I commented some information (That was correct) and it was downvoted to oblivion for no reason. Even the OP was confused by it. The problem with downvotes is some users just follow the crowd. If they see -x downvotes they figure "eh he probably deserved it".
