Returned from two weeks of vacation (yes, Japan is better than the US in every conceivable way) to spend a week playing catch up at work so that next week will be a normal workload only to be told that the week after that I (and everyone else) will be flown to the corporate headquarters for a mandatory onsite meeting for a week where I'll then return home to play catch up the week after that to then finally get back to what should be a normal workload the week after that.
These corporate shitheads are real fucking smart.

"(Student name), your magic 8 ball will not give you the answers you're looking for."

"Your dog cannot help you with your work packet."

"We can't play with your toys no matter how close to the camera they are."

Insulated the uninsulated part of my semi-finished attic. There's a guy coming to finish the rest of the room but with this cold spell I couldn't wait on him to get the insulation up.

i’m slowly redoing my wardrobe and looking for good quality vintage knit ware— which is proving difficult. i found one nice 100% cotton sweater that is pretty much brand new for $15. I also scored some really nice light brown brogues for another $15. gave them a good cleaning and some fancy french polish and they look great.

some of these stores are delusional, however. a used acrylic sweaters for $30 — terrible. the charity shops typically sell everything for around ten bucks or less, which is great, but the selection lacks.

the next phase is going to be rag sales. basically a warehouse with massive piles of clothes and you pick through and pay by the pound. a lot of this stuff is the leftovers that other fancy vintage shops didn’t get — but there are always plenty of gems. it’s wild to see someone pull a leather jacket for $7.

on instagram, elliotduprey gets some unbelievable finds. the trouble for me is being 6’4” with long-ass legs. handy for tops since i can wear mediums, but i’ll never find nice pants like him.

… and that was my weekend. i pulled a list of shops and had chatgpt solve the salesman problem, which worked out really well.

i think i need to start hitting up estate sales, which might be a little morbid…

While I was in Japan a few weeks ago, I ended up buying a bunch of new shirts to replace my closet as some of the shirts I'd been wearing were almost 10 years old. I've started cleaning up my closet to slowly replace my daily rotation with these new shirts. I also got a handful of new sweaters to replace some of my older ones so I'm also in the process of updating my daily rotation of those as well. Eventually, I'll donate my old shirts and sweaters as they're all still in decent condition. I'm hoping to also better organize my closet as it's just been a mess and I need to bring some order to the chaos.

I also spent some time finally cleaning up my desk. My desk has also been a mess since the day I moved into my apartment almost a year ago. It just became a dumping ground for mail and posters and art that I need to mount to the wall. I finally started putting some of my older mail in the recycling and started bringing some order back to the desk. There's still a big mess but it's less big than before. Hoping to spend the rest of the evening cleaning things up and finally making that side of my apartment feel like home. On a side note, I find it super annoying that I still get a ton of mail addressed to like the last 4 or 5 tenants of my apartment. How have they not yet updated their accounts to reflect their new addresses?!

Worked my tail off on a "special project" for senior management at work, in which they took control of working-level tasks at 90-minute intervals. My team just barely made the insane deadline despite their "help", and only by jettisoning every part of our job related to compliance, quality, and maintenance.

Management considers it a success - fuck my actual life when they realize the downstream cost of what they've done.
