This is my first comment on Tildes, so that's neat i guess.

Ooh! What headphones do you have? I've been rocking the HD600s for about 2 years - I absolutely love them! Link to the playlist?

It's nothing insane, just a collection of mostly female singers. The playlist while having fantastic songs is also GREAT for headphones like ours. You can hear every little nook and cranny of a song. So much fun! Here's the list, unchanged since june 2016

        https://open.spotify.com/user/diamano/playlist/5qZaEcqyKZHAwvLonFn1ti?si=wHV_5huLS5qPE6RXZ0ywqw

And here's some songs to listen to that I like if you're interested!

        Jack Garratt - Worry
Tom Misch - In The Midst Of It All (feat. Sam Wills)
        SOHN - Rennen
Jack Garratt - The Love You're Given
        Betty Who "SILAS"

Anyway. Hope you have a good day!

Jack Garratt's voice sounds so good! It contrasts nicely with the synth/bass. I think Silas is my favourite song you've suggested. Acoustic guitar + haunting vocals = <3.

Here's some songs that I like:
          SunSquabi - Cinnamon
Lucy Rose - All That Fear
Patrick Watson - Turn Into The Noise

I’m feeling frustrated about this job I’m applying for. I feel like I’ve been doing all the things people have told me to do: get a competitive degree, build your network early, flex your network, maintain good communication, etc, etc. I’ve built relationships with people at this company I’m interested in for almost a year. Having done all that I feel like I’m getting stonewalled now that I’m looking for a job. I’ve been talking to a company about this particular opening for almost a month and I can’t get any information out of them if I’m even being looked at. The other day I saw that they re-posted the same position on their website.

Some days I want to drive out to their corporate office to get a straight answer out of anyone.

Ugh. Just wanted to get that off my chest.

It's 2:19 am here on the east coast. I'm waking up around 9am to get a haircut, then me and my wife have to be at the airport around noon to pick up her father and stepmom. Then we have to go to a child's birthday party that will actually probably be fun, but then after that we will likely have to do a quick run to the supermarket two grab maybe two or 3 days worth of food, because we're leaving for Montreal super early Wednesday morning. Like, 2am early. Gonna take about 7-9 hours but I just cannot wait to get out of America for a few days

Ok so real talk, I've driven into Ontario a few times as an adult but haven't been to Montreal or Quebec since I was a small child. Is crossing the border more or less strict going into Quebec than into Ontario?

Also, a friend of mine from Ontario told be about Weedmaps, and how you can basically use it to search for "medical" dispensaries even in Montreal that will basically just sell you shit even if you don't have a medical card. Is that true?

Woah, can I get some tips for Montreal? Been thinking about doing a weekend trip out that way when the heat breaks.

It's Saturday evening here, and I just came back from an intense psychotherapy session (as the client). I'm a bit exhausted, and I'll wind down and tie up some loose ends.

Midweek, I had coffee with a friend who had a friendship break-up. We chatted over coffee. I felt that she was really hurt, but she was going through the mourning and rebuilding her resilience. There's not much I could do for her, but I'm willing to be with her as she goes through it.

It's cicada season here. Their buzzing is everywhere. Occasionally, they ended up in buildings and needed rescue. I found that air-conditioned building interior seemed to make them stop moving, possibly due to the chill. After I got them out in the sunlight, their legs began to move, and after a while they flew away.

I'm still struggling to make life/work/health better. I'm not really satisfied with my efforts.

I would definitely recommend it for someone who is busy, lazy or just wants consistently good food.

A friend of mine was just telling me his chicken system the other day. Preps bull, vacuum seals them and freezes, then when he wants some he throws it in the sous vide at 165 for a while (I don't remember how long, maybe a few hours?), then grills or fries them to brown the outside.

I had some. Ridiculously tender. I cook chicken almost every day, and have my own system down pretty good, but I rarely get it that tender. It's unreasonable.

Now I’m listening to this album called Songs of Distant Earth by Mike Oldfield. Totally outside my usual range of music interest, but I’m really enjoying it.

Heh, the timewarp album. Beware listening to it while driving, especially at night, you'll miss your exit. That record has trance-inducing powers.

Last night I reconnected with a close friend. After we had a falling out, made each other feel terrible, didn't speak for months, we drank and talked for hours.

It's the most fun I've had conversing with someone in a long while.

Hello day! Good morning ~Tildes! Birds are starting to warm up their voices. The tradewinds goose the trees and they mutter in a susurrus of leaves.

Here's hoping there are no hangovers on your end, and that the sun kisses your day with bliss~

I picked up an Nvidia Shield to replace a nearly 10-year old Kodi box that just died on me (the sata controller is refusing to see attached devices). Spending the afternoon getting it integrated with my network.

Other than having to tell android to fuck off with the location/voice/data collection features I like it. Kodi install was a breeze, and it's re-importing my media library, which will take hours. Being able to play back native HQ x265 will be nice, the old one couldn't handle it. I was stuck on an older version of Kodi due to the hardware support (15 vs 17) and they've made some big improvements.

Once Kodi is out of the way we'll see how well this thing runs console emulators. Might fool around with the gamecasting as well, see how Witcher 3 looks on a 73" screen. Also have to check the firewall and see what this thing is trying to phone home, if I need to set up a few blocks or lock it into the no-access VLAN once the updates are done.

Edit: Quiet as a mouse on the network once all the google, nvidia, netflix and other 'integrated channels' are disabled. I'll let the capture run overnight to see if it gets up to anything when it thinks no one is watching. Bit disappointed there's no easy way to NFS mount my synology box on android, so read-only smb will have to do.

This is by far the easiest media box I've ever used. It's a literal no-brainer setting up everything, and the included bluetooth remote and gamepad paired without having to do more than power them on. Don't see a way to disable the internal wireless, though, but since it has no access that way through the firewall it's no big deal. Internal SSD is only 12GB, but I can mount a share from the synology(s) I own and give it 41TB to play with, so I should be able to run all the emulators from there over the network.

Audio was a bit wonky until I told android to get out of the way and just pass everything through to the receiver. Glad to see there's a feature for that, all I had to do was turn it on. Kodi knows it's on a Shield, came up knowing exactly what settings it needed. I guess these are fairly popular candidates for Kodi boxes.

I don't miss the fan noise from my old htpc. This shield device is so small/flimsy it could be mistaken for a bloody black letter envelope, no fans, doesn't even get warm, it's definitely using a lot less power than the old htpc brick. We'll see if it heats up when I start emulating PS1 games.
