What are you doing this weekend?
This topic is part of a weekly series. It is meant to be a place for users to discuss their weekend.
If you have any plans, things you want to get done, things you have done, things you haven't done, or even if you just want to talk about how you're doing this weekend, this is a place for casual discussion about those things.
A list of all previous topics in this series can be found here.
So, what (or how) are you doing this weekend?
Hosting our niece and her friends for dinner, Final Fantasy XIV, pumpkin hunting, drinking some Scotch on the porch, and anxiously waiting for Monday when we find out if we’re having a boy or girl. :-)
LAN party with the guys, junkyard runs for parts, fixing my mother-in-law's rusted through steel staircase.
Alchemy Tour tonight.
Trip sitting a friend's first LSD tomorrow.
Not sure what I want to do on Sunday yet.
It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, so tonight I am making a pumpkin cheesecake (no bake because they're better, fight me if you want, but baked cheesecake has a worse texture) and then tomorrow I'm going to try to accomplish something in the house which I've been slacking on as we've had a few busy weeks. Either start to clean out our garage which we're getting insulated and finished in a couple weeks, or maybe tear up our DISGUSTING laundry room floor of stick-down vinyl tiles. Sunday I'll make some scalloped potatoes (which it turns out are not scalloped potatoes, I've been eating "potatoe pave" my whole life and calling it scalloped potatoes) and then we'll play some board games and eat dinner at my husband's parents house with his family!
Also I have a blueberry wine and an cardamon-and-stone-fruit mead ready for bottling, so I should find time to do that as well! I got new bottles (small guys! 375ml) and a corker since my last bottling day, so it will be a bit of a learning curve but I'm hoping the results will have a certain air of intentionality that using swing tops doesn't have!
Monday is a holiday here but I think I'll work.
Have a happy Thanksgiving, fellow Canadian! However, I disagree about the no-bake vs bake, but that's because I don't like cream cheese all too much and baking it takes a lot of that cheesy taste that I don't like out of it haha. One of these days I'm going to try to make a sweet potato pie as opposed to a pumpkin pie, as sweet potato casserole (thank you America) is phenomenal.
I hope you have a fun weekend, in whichever province you are in! :D Hope to the Gods it doesn't snow lol
Was supposed to go out with friends and get piss drunk but I ended up getting sick after a concert that I've been to earlier this week. So all I'm doing right now is just playing a plethora of games like Sims 4, Euro/murican Truck sims, HoI4, Roblox and watching Disenchantment S2.
I'd love to play Destiny 2 and Overwatch but my throat prevents me from being able to speak at a reasonable volume so until then I'll be limited to the aforementioned games.
Going to a friend's surprise birthday party.
Well I'll be working (what a surprise, I know) but I'll also be trying to make time for me to actually cook healthy meals instead of just eating out like I've been doing for the past 2 weeks. Gonna start with an easy recipe: pasta with garlic and oil!
I'm going to go to an infosec class at my local maker space. Never really done much security stuff, so I'm pretty excited
Things on my list of priorities:
Get a HaircutGet a Flu ShotI ended up purchasing a used Dell Latitude 7490 for $480 and am currently configuring a Void Linux install. So far, I've been able to get Sway running. But...I can't do anything once it's started. I guess I need to configure key-bindings, or something? I'm not even able to open a terminal from Sway. I have to reboot so I can get to the tty. Well, this'll be fun...
Edit: I managed to get some keybindings working. Guess I had to copy the configuration as described here and change some of the defaults that I didn't have. For example, the preferred terminal is set to urvxt, so I installed kitty and set it to that. Now, I can at least open a terminal window in Sway. Next...go through the rest of the config.
