I’ve always been skeptical of it as well but the complete 180-degree turn we’ve pulled since this administration took over is anything but a rational approach to policy-change. By enabling Trump, Republicans have guaranteed a new and continuous replenishment of fighters who have every right to feel like US policy is why they and their countrymen have suffered.

Do you think someone relatively new to tabletop gaming would be able to pick it up? Or is it something we’d want to eventually work up to? I’ve got a group that I’d like to introduce to it but so far, for most of them, they’ve only played Catan, Fallout, and Betrayal at House on the Hill.

That response is disappointing. They had the entire week to respond and only did so at the last hour, hoping it would get buried going into the weekend.

My degree, and a good chunk of my professional career, has been in Public Relations. I can tell you with certainty that the best possible response from Blizzard (one that would have shown they were actually committed to their “values” and were truly repentant in hopes of saving their players) would have come the day after the incident with Blitzchung. Any PR firm worth their salt would have made the point to them that, regardless of their desires for financial expansion into China, if they didn’t head this event off quickly and decisively, it would continue to spiral and they’d risk losing both Chinese and global markets. The PR firm also would have told them that there wasn’t a way to keep both.

Make no mistake, Activision Blizzard chose China. Whether they were forced to or did so voluntarily doesn’t really matter. They chose China and we knew that when they decided to be silent. This “apology” just reinforces that.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes. I’m still waking up with coffee and shaking my head at their audacity.

With it getting into cooler weather, it’s also about time for my annual foray into Stardew Valley. There’s just nothing like sipping on something warm while kicked back and de-stressing from planting crops.

I want to say I used Spotify a few years back but wound up souring to it because of its close ties to FB. I don't want to hold it against them though if that isn't the case.

Similar for me. I was searching on Reddit for Reddit Alternatives and came across Tildes in a comments section. That it is setup as a non-profit was of huge interest to me. I was lucky enough to get an invite through a request thread and then found my way here.

I will likely pop onto Reddit from time to time for some of my hobbies which haven't fleshed out quite as much here as of yet (meadmaking, Star Trek, Firefly, etc.) but I can't get over how great the conversation is here. Maybe it's rose-colored glasses and I just haven't been exposed enough but the dialogue seems more mature and disagreements are met with healthy discussion, as opposed to trolling and just yelling at one another.

Anyway, regardless, I'm a big fan of Tildes and hope that it continues to prosper as a place for folks to meet and chat.

And thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough response. The neck pain is definitely something I'm looking to prevent and the alignment of my chair/desk is probably something I'll need to look at.

Out of curiosity, have you ever considered a standing desk (potentially even one of those walking treadmill) setups? I've been considering both as well as I'm trying to find the best situation to work in possible.

In response to the ergonomics (which I totally hadn’t taken into consideration when I first started working from home) does your job require a lot of looking at computer screens? And, if so, would you recommend something like blue-light filtering glasses? I’ve been considering something like that as I stare at multiple screens for upwards of 8 hours a day, but didn’t know if they were truly effective or a placebo.
