I reentered the land of the living! I've been battling health problems, depression, and anxiety for a bit. It got so bad that I spent the better part of a month in bed. I finally dragged my ass to a doctor who gave me a script for an antidepressant. Turns out that my most debilitating health problem was related to my anxiety (it had gotten so bad, I could barely get a breath, and my chest was super tight all the time). As my head started clearing from the depression, I realized that I have no indoor hobbies, and that a lot of my anxiety stems around not doing anything, feeling like I should be doing something, but not knowing what to do. My youngest son till lives at home with us, and I was talking to him about it, and he recommended we get a puzzle to do together. So I bought a 1000 piece puzzle which just got delivered this weekend! He works on it a little bit while eating breakfast before going to work, and I work on it a little bit through out the day, and when he gets home from work we work on it for about an hour or so together while listening to music. My anxiety is still very much there, but when it gets exceptionally bad, I just go over to the puzzle which distracts me from it beautifully. Now I just need to find a few more things.

I'm actually interested in getting into trade once we've got a few puzzles under our belt. I don't know if I would do the same puzzle twice, so trading sounds like a great idea!

Decorated for Christmas, got a tree, and lazed around. I was tired all last week so on Saturday, I didn't do anything. It was glorious!

    • Worked halfway through a dog agility course. Need to revisit it when the weather clears up.
    • Had a couple of people over for a socially distant fire in the backyard.
    • Tried to learn emacs/spacemacs/org-mode. Did not succeed, but I got further than I did last time. None of the tutorials I used actually worked all the way through without retiring and sending me down a rabbit hole which was frustrating. (beorg on iOS is great though.)

Picked up and decorated a Christmas tree. First live tree we’ve had in years. My grandmother always had an artificial one, and she prioritized her ornaments, so this year is extra special....

Picked up and decorated a Christmas tree. First live tree we’ve had in years. My grandmother always had an artificial one, and she prioritized her ornaments, so this year is extra special. Decorating the tree ended up being something mom and I did to celebrate her birthday. Also made a cake and had birthday pizza.

Started the tear down of the old/dead engine in our new racecar to send it for scrap and started pulling the engine out of my 1983 4WD Tercel Wagon before calling it quits at 1am Sunday morning....

Started the tear down of the old/dead engine in our new racecar to send it for scrap and started pulling the engine out of my 1983 4WD Tercel Wagon before calling it quits at 1am Sunday morning. Sunday went to my favorite LGS for their end of year sale, was unprepared and am going back this week after I've made a list of all the games we already have so as not to risk buying duplicates.

The new phone my father bought a week ago arrived and after he transfered his data to his new phone, he passed his past phone to me.

I was definitely needing this, my old phone's battery is inflated and got to the point of dying at 80% charge and dying abruptly if you got it to charge over 20%. My old phone also only has 8GB where as this one has 128 (although, as usual, a third of that is taken by the OS.) So I have a lot of usable space now and I'm not really sure what to use it for.

Here's some differences between my new phone and the old one:

    • "Turn down blue light" is now a setting and apparently it's to make you sleepier.

    • When swiping the dots to unlock my phone, it only shows the last line you have swiped

    • Samsung preinstalls a lot more stuff into your phone.

    • Autocorrect now supports emojis (aka "that was boring" suggests the sleepy emoji (🥱)

    • You can charge your phone with another phone (on an entirely unrelated note I'm glad I'm an only child /s) (But more seriously, what and why?)

My mom was actually mildly bothered because my father hasn't finished paying for this phone yet, but given my old phone's battery, she can't really do that much (:P)

To counter the niceness of having a new phone, my cold and cough got worse :l (But it doesn't seems like it will last more than a week.)
