What did you do this week?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
Sold my house, put in an offer on a new one.
The housing market is bonkers right now for sellers. My home was on the market 1 day. 4 tours on day 1, get a cash offer over list, waiving inspections, and incredible flexibility on settle date.
Moving to an area with a less-hot market, using the proceeds from the imsanely overvalued sell.
It's a shame almost....love this house, but it was a perfect storm to inch closer to a bucketlist home. I'll miss this one.
I'd love to hear tales of others moving from a home they loved to one in a semi-unknown area and loving it just as much or more.
It's kinda poetic, about to enter a new chapter of life (another kid), and hopefully with covid being on the downswing we'll be able to build up better community relations faster.
My sister and BIL just sold their house in record time the other day too. They sold it to the first person who walked through the door, deposit cheque in hand, before their agent even had time to publicly post the listing. They also got well above asking, which was already almost double what they paid for it ~5 years ago, and with absolutely no conditions. Apparently the buyer had already lost several houses to being outbid over the last year, and so felt they couldn't risk letting that happen again. So yeah... the housing market really is absolutely insane right now.
My sister and BIL also thankfully managed to get a much bigger house, with much bigger property, in a really lovely town a mere 15min away from their old house too. It was a private sale, only ever posted to the Facebook group for the town, which my sister luckily spotted right away, and so they got it for way less than current market price as a result. They essentially made out like bandits, are really looking forward to a new chapter in their life too, and are also super excited now at having a bunch more money than they expected to renovate the new house with! :)
I helped my brother and his fiancee with wedding details this week. We went to the hotel to see how it is, and the four of us (my two brothers, the fiancee, and I) figured out which sort of cake they'll want, and explored a bunch of areas out there for various wedding events (waterfall for wedding photos, various beaches/areas for different activities).
I've decided to quit my job and find an internship. If I messed up and can't do it through my school for education credit, I can at least get much-needed work experience, I just need to apply until I get one. I'll have a year's worth of savings (20k), but will be able to pad that with a paid internship anyway. I had to have a long talk with my dad about it, as the prospect is absolutely terrifying, but I'm sure I'm making the right decision. I just have to follow through fully on it. I was going to quit this job in a year anyway to move in with my dad anyway to find work where he is.
Over the past two weeks I made a bunch of planets with custom worldgen for a sci-fi dinosaur minecraft modpack that I'm working on.

I just finished the last important worldgen feature last night, which was the volcanoes. Next steps are to populate all these worlds with dinosaurs and work out how to feed stargate coordinates to the player. A lot of stargates will have an NPC at them with trades or quests.
Nothing special. I will do more sports., Swim. And in between, I want to study two projects in more detail: https://m-docs.org and https://github.com/phphleb/hleb in order to better understand their approach.
