What did you do this weekend?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their weekend. Did you make any plans? Take a trip? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I badly need psychotherapy. It's Saturday night, I call the number I need to call and say "I'd like to request mental health services," and the automated system immediately hangs up on me.
The situation was so ironic I couldn't even be upset. I just sat there laughing for a while.
Ooof -- I'm glad you were able to make lemonade from those lemons. It makes me think of a story I read on Reddit or somewhere, about how they called the suicide prevention hotline and .. I think they got a message? And it was so absurdly funny to them that they laughed and decided not to go through with it.
Best of luck finding a therapist though! I need to do the same, and my work schedule and general not-being-able-to-do-things-ness due to, you know, depression, etc. is just making it difficult. So I feel ya.
I completely understand how you feel. I've been actively meaning to do this for several months, and passively knowing that I should do it for a couple years. Why there can't just be a "press button = get therapy" system, I'm not qualified to understand, but the constant frustration and dead-ends I encountered navigating the intersection of insurance and healthcare industries (if there's even a distinction here in the USA) sure as hell didn't help with my conditions.
warning: if you don't want to read about frustrating mental health stuff, skip this paragraph
Oh god yeah, it's terrible. I got my first real taste of just how terrible (I am definitely privileged that my first has been now) with my Rx of escitalopram -- my psych upped me to 15mg in December, then in March the pharm was like, Oh no, your insurance won't cover this, so we have to send it back to your psych (why? I don't know, actually. I can guess, but I don't know) to send it back. The pharm was a real bro and gave me a supply to get me thru, and I called the psych office to double-check and they said they'd call back. They didn't, I ran out, I got an emergency dose, and I think it's sorted now, but who knows. Bleh.
The whole thing left a terrible taste in my mouth, and again, I know how lucky I really am. This is not a huge deal. I'll survive if I miss my Rx for a few days ... but there are a ton of people (my wife included) where like, it's vitally important for living, so ... yeah. Health care sucks so bad here.
Anyway, if you're interested I could totally use an accountability buddy with this. Feel free to DM me to like, keep each other trying to do stuff.
Got my first vax shot on Friday - so spent the weekend dealing with the side effects. Still better than getting Covid.
Indeed! I got J&J and it knocked me out -- for a day. Which I'll take over an interminable time of respiratory who-knows-what and all sorts of badness.
Congrats on the shot!
One shot to go for me....agreed it's better than Covid, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it.
Yeah, sounds about right --- good luck! Hopefully you'll respond okay to it.
Thanks!
Got to hang out with some friends I hadn't seen in awhile (hooray for more folks getting vaccinated)!
Went on a ~30 mile bike ride around the city, mostly via greenways. It was absolutely beautiful outside yesterday, and I'm glad the warm weather is here.
I recorded two of my pieces from my repertoire this semester with my accompanist! Of the four I'm singing, they're my two favorites. The voice faculty will choose two of the four to be submitted for a grade, so I do hope they choose the two that I've recorded already. One is "Cuando acaba de llover" by Guastavino, and the other is by a living composer who I met through a Facebook group.
I got myself into a friends with benefits type of deal, so you could say things are going pretty swell. :)
Planted 65 tree and shrub seedlings from the local land conservancy to replace dead ash trees that we've been hauling out all year. Ouch.
Build a DECK! Well we finished it as building started about a month ago.
I hope you used schaefer deck sealant.
