I walked 50km! Wife & I were invited by my stepdad, who has Parkinson's, to join a fundraising walk along with him and 3 others. We raised nearly £5k for a Parkinson's charity. My feet are sore....

Saturday had a session with my personal trainer. I have to be forced to exercise. Then spent the rest of the day trying Linux distributions as I wanted to move to Linux for the next computer. Another possibility would be to continue using macOS. It's really good.

Sunday, worked on my thesis and progressed on some code that has been blocking my progress for weeks. Still not where I want it to be but it's closer. Then in the afternoon I played videogames. Been into driving games lately.

I'm currently doing rally races and starting the amateur leagues. Got a full upgraded car and 250k in the bank. I'm just accumulating until I have to buy a car for a specific race.

I also tried Dirt 2 for the PSP but it's weak compared to F1 for example. I have Dirt 1 for the PS3 but I lent the console to a friend.

Give OpenBSD a shot, I was very impressed after I got over the "ugly"/"hard" parts.

It has been a long time, but I finally got all of the pieces to compile a complete HD copy of The Mystery of Chessboxing.

The initial 1080p rip was pulled from a limited online screening last year. There were two tracks --- the original chinese audio and an english track that had the RZA and another guy.. but no pure english track.

After some chance digging, I found a good english rip (720p) that I could pull the audio from for my main copy.

Long story short, I am over the moon with this copy.

That being said, its missing some frames and has some weird cuts, but its the best we have. So far as I know there's only one or two surviving reels and one of the owners refuses to share.

If you're into the Wu-Tang Clan, a lot of samples from the earlier records come from this, including Ghostface Killah's name.

On Saturday I took a look at my list of "Want to go" places on Google Maps. I ended up picking the Winchester Mystery House. The tour is a bit overpriced at $42, but I've been wanting to go for a while so I bought a ticket anyway. It's a super interesting place. The owner was extremely paranoid to the point where she paid to have her house perpetually expanded into a labyrinth. Her hope was to confuse demons that a psychic had told her caused the death of her husband and only child. The estate is the equivalent of cancerous carpentry. Doors open to solid walls. Stairways go to nowhere. Chimneys became consumed by new rooms. At one point it was 4 stories high but California's earthquakes brought down the highest parts. Mrs. Winchester wasn't particularly unique in her mental illness, but she was unique in her wealth. So it's a rare sight. I would definitely recommend the tour to people in the San Francisco bay area.

On Sunday I donated platelets at my local blood center. I tried to donate platelets a few weeks ago and they ended up accidentally puncturing all the way through my artery and into my bicep. I was a little cautious going back but the phlebotomist I had this time took care not to repeat that mistake. It's actually kind of a pain in the ass to donate platelets, but it does have a great cost/benefit ratio. I don't usually like volunteering because I find it too uncomfortable meeting new people (I am at least very good at keeping friends once I've made them) - but I'm happy to endure physical discomfort to help others.

My partner and I went to our city's music festival. We were able to stay outdoors 99% of the time (had to eat inside once, since everything else was closed), and I'd say 50-60% of people were masked outside. We stayed out of the crowds, saw a few friends who we hadn't seen in awhile, and generally had a great time. Animal Collective was... a little disappointing, which was a bummer since I was really looking forward to seeing them live. We left early because of how slow all the music was, but apparently they played one of my favorites as an encore, haha.
