Wouldn't call it perfect but it is very good. I'm not even a lore guy but I did get in the story after the first few hours which are kind of bland in my opinion. The whole tribal thing was so boring to me, until you understand how things came to be. My superficial understanding of the setting actually kept from playing this game for a long time.

Gameplay-wise, having come from Metal Gear Solid 5, I have struggled a bit, mostly in the beginning. The controls are quite different from MGS5 and you can't change them unfortunately. But the more I play HZD the more I appreciate the game's engine. Not as smooth as MGS5's but quite good. Some things I don't like: how you can only climb predefined spots, the facial animations are bad, and there is some object clipping (I think that's how you call it) that detracts from immersion.

I just finished the game with 34h, having done almost exclusively the main quests. When you get hooked you start wanting to do everything but I didn't want to be over-leveled for the main quests so I focused on that. But this game is quite well balanced because I never felt it to be too easy. There was always something around the corner to keep me in check.

For the past 3 years I haven't worked in any full-time job because I've been trying to sort my mental illness problems and I started a new Master's degree. Now that I am working on my thesis and my savings are running out, I want and need to find a job.

The problem is that my mental health still isn't where I wanted it to be. I don't think I can work 8h per day. For example right now I'm trying new medication and after around 3 hours of focused work I get tired and sleepy.

I've been applying to many jobs and I feel I'm close to getting one as I'm having multiple interviews per week. So far I've explained the gap in my resume as being severely I'll and needing time to get treatment. But I never tell interviewers exactly what my issues are or that I'm still figuring out how to be at the level of a normal person.

I've been hearing a podcast about a guy who faces the same issues as me and his strategy was to be upfront with his employer and tell them when he is entering a dark period and needs to work less. He works in the effective altruism industry which I think is very different from the rest. I think that if I am as upfront as he is I wouldn't get a single interview.

Tell me what you think. Thanks.

I'm much better than I used to be a few years ago. And, like you, a good psychiatrist was the answer.

Ignore Jordan Peterson. It just happens to be that the conversation is on his podcast. The one supplying information is Lombourg. Also, no one is denying climate change here, just the certainty of the catastrophic assumptions.

This is a long video but I think its worthwhile: https://youtu.be/vDNSnMTem98

Basically our top experts believe that climate change will have an impact but it likely won't be catastrophic. So not having kids to help the environment can be good, but there are other problems in the world that are overlooked. For example pension systems are crumbling in many developed countries because of low fertility rates. Obviously, i would also not advise people having kids because it helps the pension system.

Think carefully about what having kids entails (your kid could be handicapped and/or chronically dependent for example) and then decide if you are ready to take the risk. Adoption seems like the best choice if you want to bring ethics into your decision to have kids or not.

A few years ago I decided to ditch Gmail and started using Disroot as my e-mail provider. It was recommended by privacytools.io.

I realized that at least one e-mail I sent went to spam and now every time I send an e-mail I get paranoid if it will reach its destination. Is there a way to know if the e-mails I send are opened?

I've thought about switching to a more mainstream e-mail provider like ProtonMail but I already have so many accounts linked to Disroot that make switching dreadful. As a matter of fact I still have over 100 accounts that are using my Gmail address because it's so time intensive and not a priority to do the switch. Hopefully in the password-less future this kind of problem will cease to exist.

I'm now on a 3 day rut where I can barely do anything so yes I am skeptical of non-medication treatments for my particular case. I will still go to therapy because I think understanding myself is of great value.

I've suffered from depression and anxiety disorders for a while now. I take medication daily and I am seeing a therapist. However, I feel that I should know more about the disease. I think it would be useful for when I'm talking to my therapist and psychiatrist for example.

Recently I had a healthy debate with my therapist because she believes I am too young to be dependent on meds and that I should aim to get out of them long-term. I explained her that before I started taking drug mix that (kinda) works for me, I was falling into an abyss. I couldn't function, I couldn't be independent. And, with my current knowledge and experience, I think I will be a chronic user of medication.

So I got the impression (I might be wrong on this and we will discuss it more in the future) that my therapist believes in some kind of separation of the brain from the biological world. For example, if someone is diagnosed with a heart disease and starts taking meds, no one bats an eye. When it comes to psychiatric drugs people get concerned. I am skeptical of this double standard.

I also believe that the current umbrella of depression will be revised in the future. I think for some people it is caused by a life event but for others, the brain just isn't working well and we can't (yet) identify a source for the depression. My therapist doesn't like this theory. She thinks that it all comes down to your emotional and behavioral landscape, both in the present and in the past. Now, I know that the brain is a "special" organ because, unlike the heart, we use it to think and feel. So there is definitely SOME relationship between depression and what you feel and act, but I think that is a simplistic way of seeing things. I have done brain exams before and nothing was found. But did someone test my brain chemistry for example? No. So There is probably much more to learn with regards to the disease.

So I guess this was a long way of reaching my request: I am looking for up to date and thorough literature on depression, mostly on it's causes, treatments and current undergoing research. I want to be more informed so that I can better communicate with my caregivers. I want to know what the hell is wrong (at least, most likely) with me. I want to know that there is hope in current research.
This literature can be books, papers or another medium.

I would like to finish by saying that I like my therapist a lot and the objective of this post is not to bash her. It's about explaining the context for my request.

    Thanks.

I've been playing Grand Theft Auto 5 (the online mode), Red Dead Redemption (RDR) 1 and Metal Gear Solid 5.

I want to talk mostly about MGS5. I just finished it's 1st chapter and I knew there had to be more to the story. Too much yet to be explained. I didn't like how they previewed the 2nd chapter. At first I thought it was material for a game never created but then I realized it's just the 2nd part of this game. I didn't want to see scenes from what I'm playing next. Overall I'm finding the game grindy, lacking the "magic" of previous titles and yet when it comes to the technical aspects it is the best MGS game ever.
First of all the game has way too many fluff missions that could easily be good side missions but were included in the main storyline. I've played the game for more than 20 hours now and I feel like I barely made any progress story wise.
Second, I just cannot relate to the characters. I don't find the revenge angle compelling and I don't understand what the creators want me to think about the characters. To me they seem just some weirdo mercenaries who act all tough but then are constantly emotional about their past. In the past (that is, in the game that precedes this one, Peace Walker) they were also weird mercenaries. I guess the target audience for this game is people in the military lol.
Technically the game is quite good. The controls, graphics, gameplay are all great. The loading times in the menus are a bit too long though. I also like the amount of freedom that is given to the player. There are dozens of guns, gadgets, buddies (partners you can take on missions), suits, etc. I just use the tranquilizer weapon 99% of the time but I like that the game is so vast. Then there is the whole RPG element of the game that started with Peace Walker (PW) I think. You develop your base over time and you have more and more perks, more and more options in terms of gameplay. You can send your army to offline or online missions to collect resources and recruit more soldiers. These offline missions take actual play time to complete but the online mission's timers just keep going even if you aren't playing. There is even a premium currency that let's you skip the online timers among other things.
The game also brought back the mission modularity from PW. You can redo any mission whenever you want, even with items you acquired later in the game. No need to keep save games at certain points just to replay a part of the game. For a game like MGS where killing even 1 enemy makes a difference, this modularity is great.
One thing I also don't like about the game is that there is a lot of lore in audio tapes you collect as you go along. I never listen to them while playing because I need to focus on what is being said and I don't like sitting still doing nothing while listening. So I just listen to the tapes on YouTube. I guess Kojima (the series director) learned over the years that people also don't want to be watching 1h cutscenes instead of playing. There should have been an official website where you could listen to the tapes you collected so far. That way you could listen on the go.
There game has an online mode and it has an online PVP mode that is integrated with the single player mode. You can attack other people's bases and get attacked. Not for me.
There is also something a bit off-place which is the development wait times. What does that mechanic add to this game? No idea.
I am playing the game having seen very little feedback on it. The game is 6 years old now and I am itching to go online and see what everyone thinks about the game. But I don't want to be spoiled so I thought I would just write about my experience so far.

So now I have a whole new chapter ahead of me. I'm still intrigued about a lot of things (remember that this game is a prequel to many games in the franchise) even though I think the story is very farfetched. I think I'm going to take a break from the game and finish RDR1 first as I'm playing it through PS Now and I don't want to renew my subscription when it runs out.
