Well this driving game trend started with Mario Kart DS, then I tried F1 2009 on the PSP and now I'm playing Gran Turismo 3. Hadn't used the PS2 in years lol.

I'm currently doing rally races and starting the amateur leagues. Got a full upgraded car and 250k in the bank. I'm just accumulating until I have to buy a car for a specific race.

I also tried Dirt 2 for the PSP but it's weak compared to F1 for example. I have Dirt 1 for the PS3 but I lent the console to a friend.

Saturday had a session with my personal trainer. I have to be forced to exercise. Then spent the rest of the day trying Linux distributions as I wanted to move to Linux for the next computer. Another possibility would be to continue using macOS. It's really good.

Sunday, worked on my thesis and progressed on some code that has been blocking my progress for weeks. Still not where I want it to be but it's closer. Then in the afternoon I played videogames. Been into driving games lately.

In the meanwhile I ended up getting part-time a job in the tech field. I did not disclose any of my medical issues and I think that is the most cautious approach for now. It's been hard very hard getting a job, I don't want to make it even harder by adding my medical situation into it.

I'm from Europe but I'm working for an American company. The owner seems very accommodative but since I it is a part-time position I've been able to do it at my own pace. I'm also doing school work and those two combined do take all my energy. It's not that I don't have time to do things, I do. I spend a lot of time doing "nothing".

My problem is mostly procrastination and lack of focus. For example today I decided to take the day off because I felt yesterday was a very heavy emotional day and I just don't feel like working. In fact I don't feel like doing much of anything so I'm browsing Tildes for example.

From what I understand a company like Google aggregates a bunch of data they obtain from their products, make a person's profile and then sell the ability to better target ads/features/etc to different kinds of companies. I think there are middlemen between Google and the client's but that's how I think things work.

I think I now better understand the distinction you are making between free and paid users. Paid users are usually companies so let's assume they are keeping IP in the paid platform. I think it's a crime to sell said IP without permission from the owner. Is that where you are trying to get?

My thinking is very much allogned with yours. But I do have to research the local laws on labor and health. I don't even know if I can get some disability allowance or something like that. It surely would make my life easier.

I am now living of my savings doing a remote unpaid internship and I do notice I have a hard time working more than a couple hours per day. Yes maybe if I was in a different environment it would be differentiate, but it does worry me. Thankfully I only need to work 10h per week which is achievable.

Are you sure it's illegal to sell data if the costumer is paying? I don't see why it would be. It's just another way of making money.

Of course I don't like it but if I had to guess it's more about their contracts rather than the law saying they can't.

Also, since the backbone of companies like Slack and Google are to harvest data and sell it, I honestly don't trust them not to do it even with paid clients. Why wouldn't they?

I've been playing Pokemon games recently: Platinum and Black 1. On Platinum I had 2 parts where I had to grind a bit to be at the opponent's level, which I consider to be poor game balancing. In Black so far that hasn't happened and I am playing with a rule of only having with me the same number of Pokémon the next gym leader / E4 member will have (so basically I've going through most of the game with only 3 pokes in my party). It just never seemed to have more mons that the opponent and I don't understand why the developers don't implement an optional setting where you define teams based on the number of Pokémon the opponent has.

But anyway, Platinum's story was totally vague and forgettable. Black's story has potential but I don't think it will be fulfilled. The story prefers to go feelings over logic. Also, at first the villains were mostly neutral (maybe even good) people but the narrative is pushing them into the bad guys box unfortunately.

Overall I like the new Pokémon introduced in Gen 5 and I've been enjoying changing my party as I go. The game starts off really enjoyable and fast paced (in a few hours I had already beat the 3rd gym), but then by gym 4 it starts to drag itself a bit. I guess I have that opinion because I don't care about the optional stuff like musicals and contests. I am now close to 20h and I've reached the city of the 8th gym. Need to do some story before I can fight it and I need to lvl up my Ice mon (the ice cream one lol) so he has a chance against the dragons in the gym.

If would not recommend Platinum because it gets way too grindy but Gen 4 did introduce changes that are still current today. For example, it split the moves into physical and special. Because of that I am no longer interested in playing any game below Diamond and Pearl. Gen 5 introduced the infinite use of TMs which is just awesome and HMs (I think) are no longer mandatory to complete the story which is also great.

One cool thing I would like to add is that there are private DNS servers you can add to your connection and still enjoy the wireless features of both Gen 4 and 5 games. I already made a few trades with a guy I befriended. GTS and Mystery Gift are functional as well.

I feel like I might be getting a bit tired of playing the franchise so I will probably not go for Black/White 2. But eventually I want to try the 3DS games. I know there will be remakes of Diamond and Pearl coming out soon but honestly I don't think they are worth it. Pokémon Legends Arceus seems like the future for the franchise even though it still feels and looks like an unpolished product

So I recently started working at a company that uses Slack (free tier), Google Drive and Google Docs. Being a privacy conscious person I decided to do some research to see if we could transition out of at least 1 of these tools.

For Slack I thought about Element. However I have a question: is it possible to create a closed channel (meaning no unauthorized person has access to or can discover the company chat) on Element with only the free tier (it's easier to convince my boss to transition if it doesn't add to the cost structure)?

For Google Drive I don't think there are other free options that offer the 15GB of storage we have. 10GB would probably be enough. But I am also open to paid solutions.
I found out about CryptPad. They offer cloud storage but one has to pay to be at the same level of Google (which is totally understandable). They also have productivity tools integrated with the storage solution which is great.
Maybe there is some cloud storage solution that doesn't have integrated productivity tools and offers more storage. I would like to know.

I'm open to suggestions and thoughts. My functions at the company have little to do with all this, I am just interested in open source and privacy. EDIT: I am not interested in self-hosting.

Wouldn't call it perfect but it is very good. I'm not even a lore guy but I did get in the story after the first few hours which are kind of bland in my opinion. The whole tribal thing was so boring to me, until you understand how things came to be. My superficial understanding of the setting actually kept from playing this game for a long time.

Gameplay-wise, having come from Metal Gear Solid 5, I have struggled a bit, mostly in the beginning. The controls are quite different from MGS5 and you can't change them unfortunately. But the more I play HZD the more I appreciate the game's engine. Not as smooth as MGS5's but quite good. Some things I don't like: how you can only climb predefined spots, the facial animations are bad, and there is some object clipping (I think that's how you call it) that detracts from immersion.

I just finished the game with 34h, having done almost exclusively the main quests. When you get hooked you start wanting to do everything but I didn't want to be over-leveled for the main quests so I focused on that. But this game is quite well balanced because I never felt it to be too easy. There was always something around the corner to keep me in check.

For the past 3 years I haven't worked in any full-time job because I've been trying to sort my mental illness problems and I started a new Master's degree. Now that I am working on my thesis and my savings are running out, I want and need to find a job.

The problem is that my mental health still isn't where I wanted it to be. I don't think I can work 8h per day. For example right now I'm trying new medication and after around 3 hours of focused work I get tired and sleepy.

I've been applying to many jobs and I feel I'm close to getting one as I'm having multiple interviews per week. So far I've explained the gap in my resume as being severely I'll and needing time to get treatment. But I never tell interviewers exactly what my issues are or that I'm still figuring out how to be at the level of a normal person.

I've been hearing a podcast about a guy who faces the same issues as me and his strategy was to be upfront with his employer and tell them when he is entering a dark period and needs to work less. He works in the effective altruism industry which I think is very different from the rest. I think that if I am as upfront as he is I wouldn't get a single interview.

Tell me what you think. Thanks.
