Usually there's other stuff to do, so it's like an enforced break on regular tasks, so it's a bit of a change. Though these days none of my services are on AWS.
Yep. Left the office (in office day) in favor of my favorite brewery. Currently monitoring our services from slack and Statuspage. What an awful day. Texted a fellow tech friend from the office....

Me: Fucking AWS. I need a beer.
Him: I’m already there!
Me: See you in 20

We've got a petabyte on site and failover with a different ISP. I have more outages and issues with the hosted stuff than anything else. Why is it the big boys and girls have all the woes?
The AWS issue hasn't had any effect on my stuff but the hosted HR system login is hit and miss which I'm guessing this is the cause.
No, but my company, who are a mostly Azure/M365 firm on cloud/SaaS side had some issues when the Azure portal died. I hope these aren't part of something bigger.

Damn I wasn’t aware Azure was impacted. I decided to take a look and their status page indicated it was fine. Maybe my timing was off. Or theirs was. When AWS goes down I love to dig into what is...

When AWS goes down I love to dig into what is and isn’t impacted, was the only reason I looked. I wasn’t even experiencing any issues tbh

I was on a call trying to set up some Jira automations and they wouldn’t load. I just figured Jira was bugging and ended the call. Hah. Then I saw Slack… It didn’t hit me because we’re new-ish to...

It didn’t hit me because we’re new-ish to Jira cloud, migrated from server in 2021, and it wouldn’t be the first time something was down with it.
I thankfully had today off. My spouse is away on business (we work for same company) so I was taxicab today for my son's orthodontics appointments and dental cleanings. All my juniors are having...

All my juniors are having to deal with any fallout, and they aren't allowed to page me.

Pretty minor all things considered, but I often do a lesson on Duolingo here and there throughout my day when I need a break and every single time I've completed one, Duolingo hangs before sending me to the lesson complete screen and after a few minutes, spits me back to the lesson select screen without counting the completion of the lesson.
At least I'm getting some extra practice on that German dative tense!
Define bad day. I just forwarded that link to people, said there was nothing I can do and Amazon was working on it and had a nice relaxing afternoon thinking how glad I am to not work at Amazon.

I love this for you. I currently have a large vendor customer pushing for a meeting tomorrow to ask how we can mitigate this in the future. Would love to say: go halfsies with us on a time...

Would love to say: go halfsies with us on a time machine, send us back a couple years before we decided to move everything to the cloud.

This was a few hours last week, which while not long, was sort of a big deal. It wasn't my problem so I didn't really look into it, lol.
I'm often grateful for the fact that all of my infra is in
us-west-1
. It almost never has issues.Yeah our rep suggested migrating everything… whew

I miss server so much.

Tis nice.
I'm taking an extended coffee break because there's nothing to do but wait :(

This is why I'm glad I don't have to deal with humans outside the company.
Having the same issue getting stuck in a login loop.
