Suggestions on better interactions with YouTube on my Moto G Power?
situation: Watch video until the end, and want to get back to "home" with as little drama/clicking as possible.
Current process:
- hit the tiny ass'd "x" at the top right to close the suggestions overlay (usually after several attempts)
- drag the video position back 30+ seconds so that the "up next" overlay is no longer obscuring the minimize video carat in the upper left.
- hit the tiny ass'd minimize video carat (usually after several attempts)
I keep wishing there was just a 'go back to home screen' option available at the end of videos that I'm just missing.
Revert from gesture based navigation to the old school back triangle, home circle and app square icons.

Can you not use the "swipe in from the left or right edge of the screen to go back a screen" gesture built into Android?
I have an older G Power (2020) and I don't have this problem at all. I just turn the phone back to portrait orientation and swipe down on the video to either go back to my feed or the search results, whichever I used to find the video. If you have auto-rotate disabled–and I wouldn't blame you if you do–then I'm pretty sure you're stuck with the corner x. It isn't very small on my screen though, so there might be something going on there.
Edit: just tested, and I realized that I actually use ReVanced rather than the pure first-party app, which is why my 'x' isn't miniscule. The pull down gesture works on the first-party version as well, however.
I use NewPipe to watch YouTube videos. It's way less annoying than the official client.
Absolutely seconding NewPipe as an excellent solution. Been using it for years. You can also copy any Youtube URL and simply drop it into the search box on NewPipe ... not sanitization of the string needed. Video pops right up. Solid application. 10/10.
There is. Just drag the video down. Like, when the “suggestions overlay” is showing after the video ends, just drag down, starting anywhere on that suggestions overlay.
