Skype's performance and usability has been an interesting lesson int he impact of MS acquisition.
Although the acquisition was certain, that article was still speculative. The article I posted is a confirmation from Microsoft and goes into more detail about the future plans for GitHub.

As a .NET developer, I like this :) I love how MS is progressing with VisualStudio community, VisualStudio Code, Xamarin, .NET Core, TypeScript etc. Good days ahead.

I know many believe Microsoft has moved on from these practices, but when I read an article like this I'm always slightly worried about Microsoft's "Embrace, extend, and extinguish" mantra....

I've seen a lot of good software, services, and companies absorbed by tech giants like Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, etc. There is a prevailing trend where product quality goes down.
Im sure this is a joke, but VSTS (the modern version of TFS) already natively supports git. VSTS also already has many features of GitHub, but it is definitely more clunky to use. My hope is that...

My hope is that msft uses GitHub as a model to improve VSTS, however naive that may be.
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about this. Luckily, of GitHub turns to shit, there are many viable alternatives.

I agree. I think that Microsoft is moving in a better direction than say google or Apple for FOSS

Is merging TFS and GitHub the darkest timeline?
