News needs to be timely. There's no point posting an article about a cyclone that's about to hit Mozambique... when people have already been cleaning up the damage for a week. ;) But talking about...

But talking about back-ups can happen any time. If you find a video that's 3 months old which talks about something interesting, it's fine to post. Some of the stuff that turns up in ~humanities is years old! Relevant content can still be relevant a week or a month or a year later.
Tildes isn't about rushing to post content as fast as possible, it's about finding the best content regardless of when it was published.
