I have heard that FB culture is a little cult-y to work at, but like how far can this go until they get major employee issues? I mean people have to be pissed off about his, right?

Why now and not before? I know plenty of "idealists" who went to work for FB. They don't care, its all about the money. They buy Teslas and nice things to feel better about it.

Well, for example, the ICE contracts mobilized workers at Microsoft, right? I assume there has to be some similar line for FB employees? I don’t know what it is exactly...

Yeah, but Microsoft manages to be significantly more ethical on average than Facebook*. All the ethical employees at FB probably already fled... *Things people wouldn't expect to hear in the 90s

I'll add my anecdote since I know three people who work at FB. Maybe 5-6 years ago, Facebook was in the news for one of their many scandals that now escapes me, and I got into a spirited debate with my friend (who has been an employee there since 2010) on a related status he posted. There were legitimate concerns over the news--whatever it was--but he was extremely dismissive about them, explaining everything away with comments about how he would know better than me as an insider at the company.
The argument devolved to the point of him blocking me on FB, and we didn't speak for several months. Eventually, I contacted him through another friend to apologize, not because I felt I was wrong in that argument, but because I wanted to continue being friends with him. He's worked at their main HQ, Austin, and in Europe over the course of that 9 years but still remains silent regarding FB's shadiest activity. He does not pass up an opportunity to post kool-aid-y statuses about all the amazing things FB has going on though.

People just “focus on other things” aka they ignore it or don’t think about it. I can understand. It’s a prestigious tech job with good pay. You can finally save for a home and get a new car. You can take vacations to Tahoe. The company itself does not want to change, the employees are not particularly empowered to change it. They are under constant surveillance so they cannot easily organize.
Personally I don’t much like the tech lifestyle and I moved away from the big companies, but those that are there often just avoid thinking about the problems the company is causing.
My nephew had a summer internship at Goldman Sachs and my niece had one at Facebook. I had no idea which one of them to drag harder. My brother and sister, probably.

Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard
Zuck: Just ask.
Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?
Zuck: People just submitted it.
Zuck: I don't know why.
Zuck: They "trust me"
Zuck: Dumb fucks

Maybe I'd have been wrong to do so.
Nah I would have too. But I have to live up to my reputation as the crazy socialist uncle.

Don't think it's at all OTT to say this is an example of how capitalists can become bedfellows with fascists.
Off-topic but how did this happen? When did Facebook decide they were going to be the no morals, only profit company of the Internet?
Probably since day 1.

Wow. When I read that for the first time I thought it was a joke about mark, not Mark himself.
