Coolest Cooler, which raised $13M on Kickstarter in 2014, announces they are shutting down with about 20,000 (1/3) of their backers not having their $200 pledge fulfilled
So they even have some inventory to fulfill pledges with, but are selling it instead to pay actual debts as opposed to the moral debt they owe their backers. Why do people even kickstart things...
In Friday’s email, Grepper said Coolest Cooler would liquidate its remaining inventory to pay its debts.

This is still the second most funded Kickstarter project of all time, and now probably the most major failure? I'm not sure if there's anything else that's been close to this level, that's $4...

I wonder why Star Citizen isn't on that list. I recall they raised some 60 million off kickstarter, and since then whales preordering ingame items have pushed the total to 250 million. After 8...

He just meant the "most funded" list that I linked to. But yeah, @pseudolobster, it was only a little over $2M from Kickstarter initially so they're probably fairly far down the list:...
Are there any statistics on kickstarted projects fulfilled vs. funded but failed to deliver? Seeing headlines likes these only makes me think of unreliable things are on Kickstarter, but I can't...

Interesting that they say this is a direct consequence of our trade war with China
I don't back anything on Kickstarter without assuming that I'm just throwing the money into a black hole with the hope that someday I'll get the thing I want. If I don't, I won't be surprised....

Kickstarter, where the best outcome of you putting your own money in, is that you get exactly what you were promised.

They only did about 2 million or so from Kickstarter, the rest came from their own site.

Ah, my mistake. For some reason, I thought that was a statement about SC being a big Kickstarter failure.

Most people I know feel this way...
It's not a great look for Kickstarter.
