Oh dear. In Response to Oversight Board, Trump Suspended for Two Years; Will Only Be Reinstated if Conditions Permit. So I guess he's not going to be making a return there.
It's not just shutting down for no reason - I wonder where he's headed next.
But asked online later Wednesday whether the move was a “precursor” to the former president joining “another social media platform,” Miller replied: “Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!”

On the other hand [1, 2] (emphasis added),
Trump rolled out the blog last month after being absent from social media since January, but his effort to regain some of the attention he received with his headline-grabbing tweets largely failed. An adviser told The Washington Post’s Josh Dawsey that the former president wanted to open a new “platform” and didn’t like that this platform was being mocked and had so few readers. The individual spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly about Trump’s plans.
Of course his PR person is trying to spin it positively, but nobody builds a blogging platform with the plan to abandon it within a month. I think the reason is pretty straightforward -- Trump, (rightly) perceived as an angry old man yelling at clouds, was frustrated that nobody cared about his blog.
Does that include Fox News? Or does he still call in to their shows and rant incoherently for half an hour while the hosts sit awkwardly and wish they were somewhere else?
he is just not getting any national attention

Fox partly turned on him after Jan 6 (but only partly). His most hardcore toadies are on Newsmax and OANN now, and those latter two are kind of fighting each other to capture the niche. Another...

Another thing I haven't really heard about for a few years now is Breitbart. I'm sure it's still around but it just doesn't seem to going viral the way it used to. I'm not even entirely sure the effect is all just due to deplatforming. I honestly think all these guys had managed to game out recommendation algos to drive traffic and once Facebook updated its recommendations system they literally had nothing to work with. It's amazing how much garbage they let fly for so long. Anti-vaxx shit has started to subside too. All this shit used to get pushed out into my feed on occasion but I haven't seen hide nor hair of it, even during the peak of election hysteria.
Breitbart lost something like 90% of its advertisers after a boycott sometime soon after the 2016 election. They didn't have the money anymore to keep up with the algo changes. I used to work for...

I used to work for a clickbait website. It takes resources to keep up with the social algorithm cat-and-mouse game, but it's definitely possible to pivot and stay afloat. What I mean to say is, a driven bad actor (or actors) could likely still game the feeds as well as the "fake news" tsunami in 2015-16, despite the small efforts Facebook and Twitter have made.

Deplatforming works! Now if it would only work on Trumpism itself.
Taking their Facebook away would do a world of good. They wouldn't know where else to go to get that much attention.

I wonder what would have happened if Facebook had implemented this back in 2015.
