When videos was introduced to Insta people said why not just use youtube, when stories was introduced to Insta/Facebook people said why not just use Snapchat. If the userbase is big enough this is going to work no matter what.

I wanted a discussion site / bloggy kind of place (see /r/dredmorbius). I gave up on that years ago, and the continued direction of Reddit is only further downhill.

Considering how many subs now consist primarily of tiktok reuploads I have no doubt there’s demand from the user base for something like it.
