finally getting to be that time where I need a USB-C slot on my tower that I built back in 2017 so I started looking into expansion cards.
One thing I can't tell is how to tell if a particular expansion card supports the usb-c ports with DP-Alt mode for a 4k display if the need arises.
for exmple, had my eye on this one and I can't tell much if it does have that kind of support

If it is possible, can it be done with freely available software on Linux?
Thanks either way.

So as the title states, I am realizing that most folks don't have CD readers. I do, and I can burn my phone's videos to one, but... I also use Linux these days. I have a CD burner somewhere around here, but honestly I just want to do a "zip file" type option, where I can just group the videos and get them on a usb stick to send out.
Everything I find on the 'net is about burning CDs and whatnot... which isn't my goal. Honestly, I think windows did this just easy-peasy with select and "burn to image" or whatnot. But I dunno how with Linux (Arch/i3).
Edit: I'm asking because I don't see any options in pacman. It may be in yay, but it's my bedtime...
Edit 2: Lots of folks asking why I want an ISO and not just copy the files; my dad states their TV will play videos 'in a DVD format from a USB stick' (and I don't know how accurate it is, but it's what was requested).16 votes -

I'm helping some friends setting up a bar/little restaurant. they have some tvs and are looking for an audio system.
The idea is that they can put on some music videos/sports and it shows up on all TVs and audio goes to their (to be bought) soundsystem.all this has to be as cheap as possible, as we're in a low income country.
The environment is quite loud. so it needs some power. So I think I just gonna buy a cheapish hifi-system with 4 passive speakers, connect it with their "smartest" tv (they are all off-brand) and run audio cables to the different areas and speakers.
how to synchronize the tvs I still have no idea, but it is not really a priority
So my questions
- What is something like this even called? with the keywords I tired i only find nothing or very expensive pro solutions.
- how would you resolve the video part? 3x 15m HDMI cables seem quite expensive, but might be the only solution. how do i split the signal?
- might it be better to buy active speakers and use a small mixer?
If you have experience in this I would be very happy for your advice/opinion.

Specifications:
Computer: Framework 13" DIY Edition.
- 32GB RAM
- 11th Gen i7-1185G7
- Windows 11 Pro
Browser: Brave Browser
- Current Version
Displays:
- Samsung LC27JG50QQNZA Series Curved 27in
- HP VH240a
Dock:
Issue:
Regardless of the website that I am on (I.e. Youtube, Twitch, Rumble, Netflix, etc.) my video stream will at random and only on my Samsung display will start to slide repeatedly to the left. The best way that I can describe it is to imagine taping a picture to a treadmill and setting to a highspeed setting. The image will move along with the treadmill. That's what the video feed does at random for some reason.- If I move it to the HP display it stops.
- sometimes when I move it back it continues and sometimes it doesn't.
- If I try and capture it via the built in screen recorder in windows it doesn't show up in the recording.
Have any of you had this experience or know what is causing this?
P.S. Thank you in advance for whoever corrects my tags and title which seams to happen evetime I post. I'm still trying to learn the correct way to post here on Tildes.
***EDIT***
All sorts of stuff is going on now...- My monitor also blinks now and then video starts to slide
- I've only gotten it to reproduce on Brave Browser.
- I put Firefox and Brave side by side when it started happening. When I clicked on the Firefox browser it stopped. Then when I clicked on to Brave browser it started again... Like WHAT!?
- With the browsers side by side the video on the brave browser started to slide again but now slid across both browsers...
- Every time I try to record it stops... It's mocking me at this point.

I recently digitized some old home movies from my grandparents and looking through the film I realize I recognize almost no one. This got me thinking, I should go through this with my mother to help me identify family members as she's probably the last person who knows who anyone is.
Obviously I can just make a document with notes ex: 2:53 screen right, great uncle john"
But I'm hoping there's a more elegant solution in which I can keep info with the file and not some auxiliary document that dosent live in the same place.I could just dump all that info into Metadata but that's maybe the lowest quality solution.
The xray function of Amazon prime video is the example of the best solution in a perfect world. (if you don't know, when you pause or bring up the context menu on prime video, there's a bar that identifies everyone one scene with a matching headshot)I actually looked into it and there's an API that amazon uses for this called "RecognizeCelebrities" and uses images to train the program to recognize faces and populate it's menu. I'm not sure if it's open source but even if it was, it's over my level to use it practically I think.
The last option I can think of is using a video markup platform like frame.io but that's not really a long term solution.
Any ideas?

I’m creating a special video for my parents’ anniversary and want to share it privately. I don’t want anyone to see ads before, during or right after it. I’m not monetizing it and don’t care about viewer metrics.
Right now I’m trying to decide between subscribing to Vimeo or just placing the file in my Google Drive and sharing out the link.
The file won’t exceed 5GB.
Would paying for a service like Vimeo really be worth it when I could just share out the file for free?
Would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations from content creators.

In the past I used whatever Chrome extension I found, then moved on to youtube-DLG because Google Play store doesn't allow extensions that let you download off of Youtube. Now neither is working, on and off Youtube. I'd wager websites are trying to actively fight people downloading videos, even though (I assume) the data is likely identical to what we're viewing in the browser.
