When you open the explorer it showed you a listing page so you didn't have to know where everything was unlike Tor. Lots of broken links, some tutorials on how to become a hacker or learn Linux but it was obvious they were very outdated, there were also some normal blogs, but the content that dominated the most was porn, lots and lots of it.

I wonder if things have changed since then.

"Hopefully" isn't very reassuring. This is the part that makes me feel apprehensive. They spend a lot of time talking about copyright, and I totally agree with their defense, but it's already...

Users contribute to the network by giving bandwidth and a portion of their hard drive (called the "data store") for storing files. Files are automatically kept or deleted depending on how popular they are, with the least popular being discarded to make way for newer or more popular content. Files are encrypted, so generally the user cannot easily discover what is in his datastore, and hopefully can't be held accountable for it.

They spend a lot of time talking about copyright, and I totally agree with their defense, but it's already incredibly easy to pirate stuff on the internet.

My big concern with using something like this is that people will use it to share child porn. And if you are storing data from the network on your device without knowing what it is... yeah that scares me.

Yea, hard pass for me on that. By using this, I'd imagine there is a very, very high probability of storing legitimately 'evil' content on your machine. I'm definitely not cool with that, no...

This is why I'd really like to see something like Gemini mashed with one of these p2p protocols.
