More thread navigation options?
Hacker News has a nice feature where comments have links to jump to the "next" and "previous" comment in the same thread at the same level. It's useful for jumping over a long comment thread without closing it entirely. Any chance this could be added to Tildes?
A dedicated way for jumping over a thread would be kind of against tildes philosophy, which encourages reading all comments before replying [edit: including replying to the post with a direct top-level comment]
What if the thread is off-topic? Or if I don't plan on replying anyway? I certainly don't read every single comment in every thread in the order Tildes presents them; I mostly browse around to find the most interesting comments, and being able to skip over a thread I'm not interested in would make that easier.
Have you tried clicking the [-] to collapse the comment you don't want to read in a thread? It should do pretty much exactly what you're asking for by collapsing that comment and any replies to it into one line, allowing you to immediately see the next comment on the same level as the one you collapsed.
I can vouch that this collapsing behavior also works great in Three Cheers for Tildes.
H/t @talklittle for an awesome app
If the thread is off-topic it should be marked as off-topic using the label system
