Swiping down to reload when on mobile?
Would be really handy to have this gesture when browsing on a phone. My (many?) browsers don't have a visible reload button and clicking the logo brings you back to the main page.
I personally dislike that, and as a mobile Firefox user I'd prefer the site to respect browser preferences and not interfere with its UI paradigms. If one wants swipe to update, chances are they do not want it for one website only but for all the websites, and as @jamesbvaughan says there is a plugin available for that.
Tildes, please do not reimplement browser features in JavaScript.
I was about to reply that mobile browsers have the "swipe down to reload" behavior built in, but decided to double check it before commenting and was surprised to see that mobile firefox does not. There is a plugin that adds this behavior, if you're okay with using add-ons like that.
Yeah I'm using firefox, I never knew there were browsers that had it as a feature nor that there was a plugin for it, I thought it was just a standard gesture for mobile sites. Thanks.
If you're on Android, you may also want to look at Hermit, which basically converts websites into pseudo-apps and can add some functionality to them, including "pull to reload".
Wow, that's such a great app. Thanks, much nicer experience :)
There is really no need for that as the last time I checked, the "add to desktop" action in chrome create a web-app that make the site behave like a standalone app. And the pull down to reload is active in chrome as well.
*Android here
The biggest advantage to hermit is that you can make it monitor https://tildes.net/notifications/unread and it'll give you notifications on your lock screen
If anyone is on iOS, this already works with the Chrome mobile app.
I'm surprised you're asking for this feature: I already have it. I use Google Chrome on an Android phone. When I swipe down, whatever Tildes page I'm looking at refreshes - just the same as any other web page I browse.
It's not a feature on Firefox for android, as already mentioned.
Well, that seems like it's a browser issue, rather than an issue with tildes.net.
I'm aware of that now, it just never came up when I've been using it on standard mobile sites.
Hermit has made the experience much better, it even gives me notifications for when I have unread messages :)
