A group for finance/markets/investing/trading would be nice
There is a conspicuous lack of that sort of thing here so far. I get that Tildes might not want to be a repository of "hey what stock do I buy" or "Oh my god MU is still going down" but strategy-oriented discussions around positions in markets and the way changes in the world will effect your financial future seems like high-quality content to me.
There are lots of groups and sub-groups that Tildes doesn't have yet. Deimos is deliberately trying not to fracture the users while the site is still small.
I would suggest in the meantime that you post these topics in ~life with an "investment" tag.
I do think ~business would be a good candidate for the next round of expansion. ~life is a good place for personal work-related things (this and this being good examples) but there's a lot of business-related things that don't belong in ~life. I did a quick search and it was pretty easy to find things in ~news and ~misc that would fit well into ~business:
https://tildes.net/~misc/5sc/the_rise_of_giant_consumer_startups_that_said_no_to_investor_money
https://tildes.net/~misc/570/the_shareholder_value_myth
https://tildes.net/~misc/3e0/a_speed_race_for_soybeans_also_fake_tenders_and_index_exclusion
https://tildes.net/~news/5k5/tesla_announces_theyre_remaining_a_public_company
https://tildes.net/~news/4hn/pepsico_ceo_indra_nooyi_is_stepping_down_after_12_years
https://tildes.net/~news/4x4/saudi_fund_in_talks_to_invest_in_tesla_buyout_deal
Seems like a good idea. I think @jcz was specifically aiming at personal finance discussions ("hey what stock do I buy", "the way changes in the world will effect your financial future"), which is why I suggested ~life. However, a group about general business and finance topics would also be useful in the future. If and when Deimos asks for more group suggestions, I'll support your suggestion for ~business.
