Information-based content and Tildes
Will Tildes make an effort to keep most posts information/link based? How will this be enforced?

Sure. When I first heard about Tildes, I heard that it was a site where the posts are about articles rather than users talking about topics as if they were on a forum.
Depends on the part of Tildes you're visiting. ~talk and ~life are a lot more casual.
Well... does it seem like that's the case now that you're actually here? You yourself have already participated in self posts/discussion posts.
Yes, and? I'm asking if mods want to shift the content or let it flow. It seems like you are insinuating that I'm a hypocrite for replying to those posts.
No, I was asking about your experience in good faith. If anything I was wondering why you'd not believe your own evidence over hearsay.
I replied to those posts because I wanted to. I didn't really care about maintaining the already weak idea of an "info based site" when joining in on a 20+ reply post.
This site doesn't have moderators as far as I know, just our benevolent dictator Deimos.
Do you mean as opposed to images/gifs/entertainment/etc., or something different?
And it's enforced by moderation, removing posts if they don't suit the site. For now, that's something that only I can do, but as the site grows we'll probably enable removal based on user reports, give more users removal permissions, or some other possibilities.
By information based content I mean posts that link to an article or provide some form of substance that isn't just a user's opinion or thoughts. While I don't hate these posts, they could be created and posted on literally any other forum/imageboard.
Then no, that's not true. Text posts are a core feature of the site and discussion is also a focus. A lot of the most active threads on Tildes are ones like "what games have you been playing?", "what books have you been reading?" and so on.
If you don't like that type of content, you can avoid almost all of it by doing these two things:
I have no problem with the posts, but I was just confused with them and the stuff I heard about the site.
I heard that the posts were oriented around articles and links to news, with an emphasis on getting straight to the information itself. I was surprised when I saw this wasn't the case, but not antagonized (idk the right word).
No, you're right, it's very casual here. We've always imagined that this place might see some growth but so far it's really just a general-interest hangout site with one mod. Hang out and maybe you'll see we've got a pretty good community standard.
The Tildes Docs section has some write-ups on this topic, though they're about a year old. https://docs.tildes.net/philosophy/content
