Maybe a function to check reposts before posting?

Sometimes I write an introduction to an article and add relevant tags, and then discover it is a repost when I hit post. I know I should use the search function, but since there's an automatic anti respost feature already, could it maybe be made available sooner? Maybe others would find this useful as well. Thanks!

Old reddit has a feature where you can stick any link after reddit.com/ and it will take you to the post corresponding to that link. Wouldn't be a bad thing to have here.

HN on submission will take you to the already posted content, it's not perfect but it works.

So will Tildes, I believe. I think mrbig is floating the idea of checking for submissions before the "Post topic" button is pressed, i.e. while you're typing out the description or starting comment.

Could it run the check for repost function when you paste the link into the submission page?
