    It's a bit funny that Disney has hyped up their Volume rear projection sets for all these recent shows and movies, and this, the one show that isn't making extensive use of them and is instead relying on some actual locations and sets, looks immediately substantially visually better.

      You think so? I can usually tell when an LED stage was employed, but I attributed that to me having studied it a fair bit so I recognize the "feel" an LED stage gives to a production. What is it you notice most?

      We're in the process of building our own LED volume at work for use in education. The tech is still really new, so I'm always interested to hear what people think about it (if they're even aware it exists at this point).

        It's less an immediate "oh this is an LED stage" thing for me (it's a bit more immersive than a lot of shoddy green screen work in that respect) and more just how obviously restricted the...

        It's less an immediate "oh this is an LED stage" thing for me (it's a bit more immersive than a lot of shoddy green screen work in that respect) and more just how obviously restricted the cinematography gets whenever it's employed. On the first season of The Mandalorian, The Batman, and Kimi, it's largely used as literal window dressing in shots that wouldn't be super flashy or dynamic anyway, so it doesn't distract from the overall look. The Obi-Wan show and the recent Thor movie on the other hand looked like they were shot in nothing but cobbled together medium shots for so much of their runtime because of the staging and blocking restrictions you get from that set.

    For being completely unnecessary, it looks pretty good as far as trailers go. Always wanted more civilian life in Star Wars, how life looks different on the ground before and after the Empire is...
