In this episode I feel we really saw everyone's true colours. We saw their true motives and their true nature. I think the episode was masterfully done and I'm sure that in time I will appreciate it more.

But I have so say, this episode really affected me. Maybe it's because my SO has a history of self harm and suicidal tendencies/attempts. Maybe it's because the Man In Black is the perfect reflection of what that voice in my head says I am on dark days. Or maybe it's just great TV.

Shutter Island was the last piece of media to make me feel this way. Based on that experience, it'll probably take me a few days to fully recover from this episode. But I expect once I do that I'll consider this one of my favourite episodes.

      So, to recap the motives:

      • Ford: set the hosts free, begin a new species
      • Bernard: destroy the park
      • MiB: play Ford's game while hating Ford non-stop
      • Dolores: dominate the world and probably kill the humans
      • Maeve: (I don't know at this point)
      • Ghost Nation: protect the world from the hosts
      • MiB's daughter: unmask dad
      • Delos: create immortality?

      What's wrong and what's missing?

Did the man in black (MiB) really kill his own human daughter? While, from his (MiB) subsequent actions and body language, he believed he killed his human daughter, there was no actual on-screen verification of human/guest vs. host. QA did not do the back of the head electronic scanner thingy, nor did MiB cut open her forearm to check for the data port (he stopped when he saw the profile data card).

If Ford set this up - it is conceivable that Ford gave the host a duplicate profile data card to use to present as evidence as support to being human (or gotten it, as a human, from the book he stored it in), as well as another tool for Ford to use to f*ck with the MiB.

Maybe this is just wish fulfillment on my part - but I liked the character and would like to see more of her (as a character - human or host).

I saw it as her being real, though.

I missed that scene! Damnit, now I will have to rewatch the show. What a pain in the ass! Welp, off to make some popcorn and settle in for a glorious hour of TV!

It was pretty good, finally some stuff is happening! Although I still feel it's progressing very slowly, it's been the whole season trying to reach the valley and hints here, hints there... But yeah, we've learned some more details at least. And I never liked Teddy, so...

However, I was much more invested in the first season, it seems to me there were bigger questions there. I think now everything is more diluted in a western-fantasy soap opera style.

I think I'm more involved this season though because I binge watched S01 after all the episodes were already out. Having to wait makes me think about things more.

I agree, it's getting more and more soap-like as it goes on. "The hats are scanning your brain!" was an exceedingly silly "twist". I still enjoy the show, I just don't take it seriously anymore.

Loved this episode and the season finale preview for next week almost made me jump out of my seat.

I never watch those. I like my expectations low and my spoilers non-existant. We'll see.
