I think the episode was masterfully done and I'm sure that in time I will appreciate it more.
But I have so say, this episode really affected me. Maybe it's because my SO has a history of self harm and suicidal tendencies/attempts. Maybe it's because the Man In Black is the perfect reflection of what that voice in my head says I am on dark days. Or maybe it's just great TV.
Shutter Island was the last piece of media to make me feel this way. Based on that experience, it'll probably take me a few days to fully recover from this episode. But I expect once I do that I'll consider this one of my favourite episodes.

With Machine Learning in real life, you can use it to immitate black-box systems. You train a neural net based on comparing the output of the network against the output of the real system. With enough training data, it should be possible to create an accurate mimicry of a complex system, even without knowledge of the internals of that system. Whether it shares the same hopes and dreams as the original person is debateable, it may be that your hopes and dreams influence your every action and so the easiest way to predict your actions is to understand your drives. Or it may be that there are multiple different internal states that could result in the same output, in which case there's a probability that the network would learn the same ones as the original, but it's pretty slim. For some simpler examples of what I'm talking about, take a look at this video. (Particularly, the example of the sheep detection)
But it depends what Delos' goals for the project were. In a previous episode they talked about using it for marketing purposes. A shallow copy of an individual would be more than enough for this purpose. Or, more sinister, maybe Delos' want to create literal puppets of influential figures.

It's easier and more natural than having to click a small "Mark as read" button, and it means replying automatically marks the message as read.

This episode also had more Deus Ex Machinas than previous episodes: MiB and Hale both saved by dumb luck.

This episode I feel like I'm back to having no clue what's going on, and I love it. What's Ford's end-goal?

I used to have more plugins but I reinstalled Windows a few days ago, these are the ones I've found critical to reinstall since then.

I mostly write JavaScript or TypeScript, but I recently needed to work on a Python project and it was great to be able to use a familiar editor. It's highly customiseable and already has a pretty decent plugin ecosystem. It's very actively maintained, one of the few pieces of software where I take the time to read the "What's New" every time an update comes out. Some people criticise it because it's an Electron app, but it's the fastest Electron app I've ever used. (It actually runs faster than Visual Studio Community for me)
Oh, and it's completely free.

Yoshie It doesn't check the existence, because if I do ~nonexistentgroup then it still links it. My guess is that it's because the @ wasn't the first character in the word. @example.org test@exampleIt doesn't check the existence, because if I do ~nonexistentgroup then it still links it. I don't think this is super high priority, but it'd be nice to be able to escape the ~ or @ symbols so that something isn't automatically turned into a link to a group/user. For example, I noticed in a comment I made that ~ers gets automatically turned into a link to the non-existent 'ers' group. I think if I write \~ers then it should not be linked. (E.g. ~ers)

Tildos is pretty funny though.
I don't disagree with you. In Season 1 every episode answered most of our questions but gave us twice as many new ones. In Season 2 we've had mostly the same set of questions the whole way through.
I think I'm more involved this season though because I binge watched S01 after all the episodes were already out. Having to wait makes me think about things more.
