The Mandalorian | S01E05: The Gunslinger
The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

I am overall enjoying this show come into it's own. I do enjoy how it feels more like Have Gun, Will Travel than Star Wars.
It's a good replacement for Firefly :)
Any ideas as to who walked up to the corpse at the end of the episode?
Another bounty hunter, possibly Boba Fett because Star Wars is so in love with itself it can't escape it's own mythology.
This story could definitely have taken place on a different planet. It's a shame they have to visit the same places again with so many ham-fisted nostalgic references. When they do visit a new planet (like last episode), it isn't anything special either. For all we know, it could have been Earth.
I think in this case it’s used well. For these short episodes you’ll immediately have a context for the area. No wasted screen time to establish a setting. Instead, you can use that time for world building and subvert expectations by fleshing out the Tuscan raiders as a people. You can set someone up as a younger more innocent Han Solo like character, but ultimately without his conscience.
I'd rather have him land on Tatooine than on a desert planet that's identical to it in every way but name. And I believe the reason they used Tatooine was so they could set up Boba Fett at the end. At least I think that was him. The rest of the fan service was awkward though, I agree with you on that.
You mean you werent a fan of Jakku? :P
He survives and escapes the Sarlaac in the expanded universe, and it's been rumoured he also survives in canon. When the character at the end walks, the boots sound like jangling spurs, just like Boba's in The Empire Strikes Back. Also, both Boba and this character wear capes, and have a weird band near the foot. It may not be Boba, but I think it might be him.
There's a theory that Boba Fett survived the Sarlaac.
I wonder if that was kinda the point, rich kid wants to be a bounty Hunter, heard Han Solo got his start in that very bar, so he just hung around until he could find someone he could buy to do his first mission for him?
