The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet (and by extension the whole Wayfarers series) – This book hit me at the exact right time in my life and I love it. It’s just so kind and humane. I rarely re-read a book, but I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read this one.

This Is How You Lose the Time War – Beautiful and poetic. I knew nothing about it other than the blurb on Amazon, and it absolutely blew me away.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – One of those foundational sci-fi books for me. Still great.

God Emperor of Dune – The way it deals with Leto II’s prescience and the sacrifices involved is super compelling.

Slaughterhouse-Five – Hard to chose which Vonnegut to list, but I this one is my favorite of his. I think it was the first book I read that played with its narrative structure like that.

For paper I switched from Field Notes to the Rhodia Reverse Book. The paper is great and I really like the square pages.

I had heard of Toki Pona, but you’re making me want to really dig into it. The logograms look really interesting!

I was feeling like that too. I either couldn’t find a book that interested me, or just didn’t have the will to sit down and read.

What I ended up doing was going back and re-reading some of my favorites (Becky Chambers’ Wayfarers series, if anyone was curious) and that got me reading again. I’m reading books that I love, plus nobody can tell me what I should read.

Short fiction is good too when I can’t settle on something to read. I like Clarkesworld for short sci-fi, but there’s lots of other sf and fantasy short fiction magazines out there.

I actually really like the look and feel of the world in Morrowind. The environment and architecture felt so alien instead of just bog-standard fantasy.

Wow, thanks for these recommendations! I’ll definitely be trying out Homer, Miniflux, and Kavita.
