Amen. I too wished to list coffee, but I thought it would be too trivial. Morning coffee time is my sacred time of day, and in no way can it be bad.

Oh, yes, I understand that. In this case, they are not attempting to seat a totally unsuitable candidate despite the aspersions. But overall, they definitely earn being the hand keeping Justice from her scales. To the extent that it could be argued as one of the reasons we are here in the first place. I realize it would dilute the direct meaning of the work.

Apart from the image giving me a sick feeling in my stomach, I guess I mainly wonder why there isn't a donkey on one cuff, too, because the Democratic Party has a lot to answer for, too.
Despite the fact that I am sure the Dems are really only using this shameful clown and his brutal antics to turn out their vote, it is still a darkly disturbing truth about our culture and civilization that justice, especially justice that concerns women and the poor, is so wholly perverted and shabby at best.

That's funny! I was just complaining to a group of people unfamiliar with why she is so reviled that, even if you agree with her philosophy, her novels are truly painful to get through!

Yes, I find her writing very funny. I came late to the Peterson phenomena, but as I understand it, her analysis is close to the mark. A strange bird, or a cynical opportunist (Anne Coulter?).

    Amen.

Waiting on tables/foodservice isn't the best way to make a living: essentially, you are someone's temporary servant, but, you also have another boss (the restaurant). It can totally suck. And it usually does, for most folk, sadly.

If you want to make someone's day, over-tip them. Especially if they are working hard and very pleasant. It is very hard work, on the body and on the soul.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people in difficult workplaces-- the kitchen staff are killing it, too, usually, and underpaid for it. But, at least in the U.S., because of the rules around tipped employees, restaurants pay them less, so a tip is part of a server's wage.

I try to always overtip, just to make up for the asshats, skinflints, ignorant, and also just to make people feel good. It's a nice thing to feel another human being, especially a stranger, is just plain being kind and appreciative.

There's a very good rooibos & honeybush tea under Trader Joe's label, not sure what the actual producer's name is. I have one in the afternoon, hot or over ice. You could add to it, but it is a touch sweet on its own. It's very affordable, and very relaxing.

Thank you for this very informative and comprehensive post. I knew only a little about this terrible issue. I agree, a ~history would be great for this kind of long-form post.
