Epic exclusive on PC, bummer. Guess I'll revisit in a year when it comes to Steam.

As someone who loved the idea of a free speech / censorship free reddit in the way Aaron Swartz envisioned it, I participated on early voat for several years. Early on, there were still negative & racist comments but I feel like it was more the minority and often downvoted. Sure, there were racist subs but they were compartmentalized, and you could block them entirely. I hoped that the community would keep them in check, if not through overt censorship then by calling them out and downvoting their stuff.

Unfortunately, that proved not to be the case as more white nationalist types joined, and it was non-racist content that the community ultimately rejected. Finally I saw it to be a lost cause, and removed my account. It did make me realize how difficult it is to run a free speech community, without becoming taken over by a bunch of nasty people.

The music from Noir has always stood out to me. The Akira movie also has a really good soundtrack.

Yeah, I'm really into cyberpunk anime and I definitely enjoyed Serial Experiments Lain. I will say it's stranger than a lot of other anime I've watched, which isn't a bad thing.

Sorry for the super late reply, haven't logged on for quite a while. I'm using a KMS activator from the MyDigitalLife forums with the 1607 LTSB install.

Debian Stretch for most things, Win10 LTSB for certain apps and gaming. They are installed on separate hard drives.

I use Debian on my machine because it's established, stable, and just works. All the packages seem to work well together, and I don't want to have to spend excessive time troubleshooting various things.

Whenever I recommend or install a distro for a new user, I always recommend Mint. It is really easy, stable and is a great transition for a Windows user.

I was really excited when they announced Champions, but the new interface with all the lootboxes, cosmetics, unlockable characters, and matchmaking-only gameplay kind of ruined it for me. Once you're actually in a match it's not bad, but the lack of a server browser and LAN play is a real bummer.

Regardless, if you're bored on the computer that's when you should log off and read a good book or do something else. The internet will still be there when you get back.

Hey, I'm Andrewski. I'm passionate about liberty (personal freedoms, free markets, small govt) and traveling.

My interests include FOSS software, linux, gardening, sustainability, board games, pc games, cryptocurrency, camping, sci-fi and fantasy, hiking, guns, and ultimate frisbee.

I've gotten tired of reddit's dumbing down the interface and content, lack of privacy, manipulation, shadowbans, etc. I thought voat might be a viable alternative, but it's zero moderation principles have lead to a racist takeover so that's clearly not the solution.

I hope I can help this community in fostering interesting dialogue and respect for all various opinions.

I am very interested in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, from both a tech and ideological perspective. Coming from an Austrian economics & free market background, I hope that cryptocurrency can take take the monetary control out of the hands of central banks and put it back in the hands of the people. I think blockchain could benefit a lot of applications, including voting, public accounting, contracts, and decentralized content sharing.

There are still a lot of issues with the tech that need to be addressed, such as security, scalability, and energy consumption. Others have the valid concern that quantum computing could eventually break private keys and render it useless. One way or another though, I believe that blockchain is here to stay in one form or another.

A few that I'm interested in:

Monero - a private and fungible coin
Skycoin - An incentivized method of providing a decentralized mesh network
Stellar - a low cost, international token providing fast and inexpensive transactions
Etherium - Smart contracts, a powerful coding framework, and the basis of many other coins
