I'm excited to see what straw breaks the camels back. Will it be McDonald's raising the price of coffee 5 cents? Dollar store sunglasses? I'm sure whatever it is it won't be rational, but when so many companies use people's time and submitted content to then make them miserable I'm sure it's pent up. Add to the the cost of so many things going up with record profits and layoffs and the bubbles gotta pop eventually. I think the general public is getting pretty educated by now about the pump and dump golden paratute executive. More people knowing that's behind ruining some of their favorite things won't go unnoticed forever, people are petty.

I thought they were pretty much done with them for some time now. I'd see the odd one pop up here and there but always seemed last minute, not the most popular of celebrities and seemed to be played super safe, like none of them had ever heard of Reddit before.
I'll never understand why they would can Victoria, I can't imagine that they saved much money on that. It caused a backlash as well as took the one consistently positive draw to Reddit away. It was free advertising, at least in a word of mouth way.
Then again I'm not being paid millions to make things worse for everyone so what would I know?

I was pulling my hair out at those, like yes most people feel/do/experience all the things you post about. I guess it was my first circle jerk and I hated every second of it. Out of the pan into the fire haha.

I'm Canadian and it's the same here, might be confirmation bias but everyone I talk to feels the same. Lots of people looking into trying to buy land and get tiny homes/RVs/trailers and start big gardens and rely and support eachother. Shows people's hearts are still there which is relieving. People just want to be able to live comfortably, I know very few people that are striving for more than just regular lifestyles.

I think voting is important, or at least be, but it's getting to the point where I kind of feel morally responsible in a negative way for voting in any direction, I know that whoever I choose to vote for is going to do things to negatively affect millions of people. They do it blatantly and clearly get away with it. I don't know what the answer is, talking is first step so people are informed, one can only hope they see that the the tides turning and self correct. I for one am not really holding my breath.

That's part of the problem. A major part is that there simply isn't anyone decent to vote for. Where I live all the parties are basically supporting the same thing. There needs to be someone that's not 70+ with corporate interests and owner of multiple homes. Who really expects politicians to vote for change that hurts their bottom dollar? System is broken right now and 90% of people are just arguing back and forth for their party while more and more rights get taken away right under our nose.

Do you have a link about peertube? Does it just show YouTube content or is it its own thing with unique content creators? I tried looking into it yesterday and it was pretty confusing. I use Firefox on mobile browser with Adblock to watch YouTube on mobile, and I think I have my mind wrapped around the fedverse in regards to kbin and Lemmy, but haven't heard anyone expand on peertube.

I feel what was once fun and new on Reddit was also part of its downfall. What once was an inside joke then turned into a constant cycle of repeating it til it's funny again. Main problem is that those types of humour are subjective, so it's not funny to individual at the same time based on how often they've been exposed to the joke.
While I found "I too choose this man's wife" funny, I hated "shoes on, still alive" and "I did Nazi that coming". Some are rooted in actual humour and some are more of a groupthink style of humour.
End of the day it slowly wears down the reader and loses its worth over time, removing the one main part of its attraction: feeling of a sense of community.
I think a fresh start is a great thing, and that these types of thing happen naturally and organically, bringing them over from a previous site just doesn't work in the same way.

It's getting really old fast watching adults speak about adult subjects meant for adults like their in the back of an elementary classroom.
I'm an adult, I want to watch people talk and act like adults. I really wish there was a hard clear line and separate app for a kids YouTube. Would be great for parents that want to plop their kids in front a screen as they don't have to worry about it going down weird rabbit holes. I think there is a kids app or at least was, but if so then why does every advertiser only want family friendly even on regular YouTube? Whole thing is frustrating, even without ads the content creators still have to cater to them to stay in the algorithm, so no matter what ads make every level of the entertainment worse and awkward to watch.

It's fun cuz it's "interactive" persay haha. Toss in some spicy jalapeno chunks so everyone (consenting) gets a single one and then it's a game. Just lots of fun and tasty. It's my go to!

There's no downside to having an app. I came from rif, and it was just very usable and accessible. Lots of people don't want to mess around with their browser while on their mobile devices, so it becomes a barrier that holds people back. Having an app brings in new people, makes existing people wanting an app happy and PC users can still enjoy the browser.

Pickles in grilled cheese is my go to favourite. Trick is to slice the pickles (baby garlic dill for me) and wait til you take sandwich off the heat, open and put in the pickle slices ( this way they won't get soggy) then I dip it in ketchup mixed with hot sauce.

Just have each person or couple or group grab a pack of hotdogs/smokies/kelbasas? Any type of hot dog style with different flavours, then you cut them all up into bite size chunks and skewer them randomly. Roast over the fire and slide off onto a bun. Different taste every bite!
