For years I constantly heard how amazing the Witcher 3 was, the best story rpg of all time so of course I had to play it! I absolutely despised it, and dropped it after only a few hours as it’s one if the least enjoyable games I’ve ever played. So you know what I did? I went huh that’s a shame and moved onto playing something else.
This is not to say you can’t discuss a game at all and talk about what you didn’t like but don’t let yourself get caught up in the dramatic over sensationalized clickbait ’disscussion’. I used to fall into that trap but since moving away from it and focusing on what I do like I’ve enjoyed gaming a whole lot more. Remember it’s supposed to be media for enjoyment and entertainment.

However one glaring omission that isn’t mentioned is that to be able to take this attitude of it doesn’t effect me I don’t care is to be in a position of privilege, there are plenty of people who can’t afford to be ignorant of the news when it’s covering the active erosion of their rights or attacks on their existence. They need to be aware in order to stay safe but also push back against it.

I ended up playing it one sitting (about 3 hours) and I was hooked with that itch I get when I’m really into a game and just want keep playing more, I kept thinking about the game so I had to go back and play the other demo mode the next day. I’m just glad I only have to wait a few days for the rest of the game because this has gone from a ehh maybe I’ll play it when it’s on ps plus or something to a cancel everything happening on release day I have new plans.
I’m very happy to see demos making a comeback and if you haven’t tried this one yet I highly recommend you do!

But I was willing to overlook both of those and try it out until I realised that the instance you use can straight up block any other one you might want to see or vice versa. That straight up kills the entire point of having all these servers linked if they can be unlinked at any point, suddenly instead of needing one account to access all the communities you like you now need like 5 as they fracture further and further.
Also creating this toxic combative culture between servers forming schisms like has happened on Mastodon.
I think I’m much happier with a regular well moderated service but I still do hope that maybe they can sort a lot of these issues out and I’ll definitely keep half an eye on them to see how they develop.

The name coming from the idea that once you realise you’re trans your egg cracks and you emerge from it.
Essentially it’s just projecting things that they experienced before realising they were trans that made sense to them after that realisation. Like for example a trans woman being into makeup or something before they realised they were trans so they project that into some random feminine guy who’s into makeup thinking they must also actually be a trans woman.
It becomes this whole misguided attempt to help trans people when really it’s actually just sexist and shitty to assume someone can’t possibly just be a guy who likes makeup or to think you can decide and label someones gender for them, sometimes even insisting someone’s trans when they say they aren’t. An issue most trans people have to deal with the other way round so to then push that onto others is shit.
The whole concept rubs me the wrong way and I dislike how popular it’s become in online queer spaces and almost treated like a joke with a lot of haha look at this person they’re so obviously an egg posts.

It’s reductive, antiquated and dangerous so I really hope it dies off completely. Even if you were actually right and you correctly figured out someone is trans before they did you can’t just go right you’re trans and they’ll go oh huh thanks I had no idea guess I’ll get on that right now, you’ve got to let them figure stuff out for themselves first and come to that conclusion.

Maybe as the site expands keeping a curated list of ‘default’ subs you’re automatically subscribed to and/or giving new accounts a list of popular options to pick from when they sign up like how a lot of services do with the select interested topics thing.
I like the main feed being all subs you’re following but it would be nice to also have each one feel slightly more like a community and less like I’m filtering by tag, just not sure what exactly would be the best approach to accomplish that.

The one positive I think the 2 day blackout could have is on the awareness and media coverage side, just getting the news out more people who might’ve been unaware and either see articles or pinned messages in locked subs they try to visit.
But I hope these comments embolden many subs to extend to an indefinite protest as reddit truly is one of the few sites that the users can actually fight for positive change on if they really try due to the unique position of having the moderators being community members not employees.

So it seems to me that these men are well aware that supporting the dismantling of women’s rights is unattractive to women but not enough to reflect on their views, just enough to make sure they don’t let the woman find out on a first date.

But for me it’s the subreddits dedicated to the specific games and series I love that I mainly spend time in, the general ones I agree are pretty useless.
While maybe announcements don’t always yield high level discussion I just personally enjoy sharing in the excitement of a game a community’s been hoping for getting announced, also breaking down and speculating about all the little details/references in trailers or footage can be a fun way to build up to a release.

As I’ve seen other comments mention that community feel of a niche passionate more hardcore fanbase is something that’ll be really hard to recreate on a forum like Tildes without a huge amount of growth so I’m still trying to work out how I want to approach those types of communities going forward and whether it can be actually be reddit free or not.

Context for those not super familiar with the genre but fighting games have always really struggled with being super barebones and a massive turn off to casuals due to a lack of single player content and a way too complex onboarding process lacking good or interesting tutorials. Then even if you get past all that you’ve still got to content with a lacking online matchmaking experience that hasn’t improved anywhere near as much over the last decade as most other genres have.
In the past if you were lucky you’d get games that solved one or maybe two of these issues but never all of them as well as being an actually enjoyable game with support by the company and the community.
Street Fighter 6 looks like it might finally be that game though. It’s got a huge fun story mode for casual fans but most importantly one that teaches you all the basics and mechanics of a fighting game, tricking you into slowly learning it over time. Which compared to the traditional dedicated boring tutorials is way more effective at being engaging and means you’re actually retaining the information. Also offering a control alternative similar to other genres, removing the technically difficult inputs which lowers the barrier of entry significantly.
But most importantly the games just really fun with cool characters (who you now care more about than in previous games since they’re fleshed out and humanized in the story mode) and the online works well, easy and quick to get matches with good netcode. It truly is everything fighting game fans have been begging for forever so I couldn’t be happier.

Covers mainly queer and progressive stuff along with Japanese literature, which is what caught my interest, but they've also got me into other books I'd have never thought to pick up. Really rekindled my passion and love of reading after falling out of the habit for like almost 10 years.

Which along with costantly trying to out graphic each other is a huge part of why games are taking longer and longer as well as costing so much to make.
Would also I'd love more hand drawn animation in games, I've been playing Two Strikes lately and wow if it's not just absolutely gorgeous when done well.
If you’re enjoying the time when you are playing the hand then I don’t really see that as a problem.
I probably finish about 40% of the games I try (60% if you only count games I’ve bought and not stuff like gamepass) and then will go back eventually sometimes years later and finish around another 5-10%.
It’s honestly never bothered me as games are there to enjoyed and entertaining, if I’m no longer enjoying it why would I continue playing? You should never feel obligated to play a game, at that point as others have said it’s basically become a job.
Also games have changed over the past 20 years not just you, they’ve general become longer as well as greedier, trying to demand all of your time with fomo mechanics and daily bonuses so I try to avoid those types of games or at least disengage with that side of the game.
If the issue is more I want to play all these games right nowand feeling overwhelmed as opposed to losing interest in a game what I do rotate between a max of four, usually two or three, games of completely different genres/ types so I regularly rotate between them. This stops me getting fatigued of then or forgetting what I’m doing but I’ll still just organically stop playing one if I’m not really enjoying it/ a lot more into the others.
The final thing I’d say is that you’re not missing out by not playing everything at release. The games will all still be there. A lot of the games I play are 10, 20, 30 years old and I haven’t missed out on anything by playing them now instead of at release.
Instead I think it’s awesome and really cool that even if nobody ever released another game I’d still have enough amazing new to me games to fill the rest of my life!
