After being skeptic of password managers for a long time, I've decided to take the plunge and get one installed. The burden of remembering dozens of passwords is simply getting a bit too much. So, I was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations of password managers? Maybe one you or a trusted friend use? Or maybe you think password managers are rubbish, and want to share you opinion?

Any suggestions are welcome, in the interest of fostering discussion/having the thread be useful to other people too. But in my specific use case, I want to be able to sync between devices. I'd prefer something open source, but it's not a requirement.

Most likely a response to Stadia. This "game streaming" shit makes me super nervous for the future. There are just so many unsolved problems. Setting aside the fact that latency makes some games very frustrating to play online already, there are huge concerns over things like game ownership, game preservation, and modding. Jim Sterling made an excellent video discussing the topic, and I wouldn't be surprised if he covered this latest development as well.

I would love for game streaming to work flawlessly with no latency and on any hardware, but there are so many concerns and I have no confidence in the industry to solve them in a satisfying manner.

I live in Europe and enjoy cheap and fast internet, and latency still make some games extremely frustrating to play. This goes for fighting games especially, but sometimes applies to shooters as well. I personally believe that these types of games (that require split-second reactions) will never be playable (at least on a somewhat competitive level) over anything less than LAN. I would also detest having latency in games where there is no good reason for it to be present, such as in single player games.

For reference I usually get around 40 ms in most games.

This honestly terrifies me. Setting aside the fact that thousands innocent civilians would be needlessly slaughtered in such a conflict, I am worried about the repercussions that we will have to face at home (I live in Sweden). As far as I understand, the EU is currently tearing at the seams much because of the refugee crisis, which is caused by conflicts in Syria/Libya, which in turn can be traced back to the post-9/11 invasion of Iraq (and perhaps even earlier, such as US support in the Bear Trap). Another such crisis might be the final straw that knocks out the EU.

Yeah, Natural Selection was originally an HL2 mod made into a standalone game (by the same devs that went on to make Subnautica actually). Sadly, I don't see the genre making a comeback. I think it's not really feasable to make FPS and RTS players play the same game, however awesome the concept may be. Hell, even traditional RTS games are struggling currently.

Didn't This War of Mine sort of go into those themes? I'm not sure (the game never really clicked with me), but it seems to fit what you're describing.

FPS/RTS hybrids! The idea of having a team of players where one person is playing an RTS, but the units they are moving around are actual players (with individual skill, will, and everything else) is extremely intriguing to me. I consider Natural Selection 2 to be a masterpiece thanks to heavy focus on communication and teamwork to complement individual skill in aiming and strategic thinking. I'm also a fan of the asymmetrical nature of the game. Savage was never really my cup of tea, but I would love for the genre to be further fleshed out.

Sadly I don't think that will happen in a PvP-based game, but I hope that it could be adopted into a PvE-based one. I'm thinking something along the lines of XCom, but real time and with real players doing the actual shooting.

Even though I don't speak any Japanese it's very satisfying to listen to.

I have a few songs in my main playlist I feel the same way to. I have a penchant for instrumental music, and I often feel like vocals in a language I don't understand scratches a similar itch. I find it's easier to just "follow" the music instead of listening to just the vocals.

I largely agree with your comment, especially the sentiment that a game bears "no obligation to you as a player". But I have one question for you: if a game like Sekiro or Dark Souls would add an optional easy mode, would that detract from the game as a whole? Let's say you would pick either "Easy mode" or "Normal mode" right when you create your save file, and could not change your mind later in the game.

Also, what if such a feature was included from the game's release, versus it being added later in a patch, perhaps in response to public pressure? Would that make a difference?

Here is a pdf of how the MEPs voted, sorted by groups.

Here is how the Swedish MEPs voted, for the benefit of my countrymen:
Jytte Guteland (S) and Olle Ludvigsson (S) voted AGAINST the amendments and FOR the directive.
Peter Lundgren (SD) and Kristina Winberg (SD) voted AGAINST both the amendment and the directive.
Marita Ulvskog (S) voted FOR both the amendment and the directive.
I couldn't find Soraya Post (FI) nor Anna Maria Corazza Bildt (M) on the pdf. A cursory search revealed that Post was ill and couldn't vote, but would have voted against the directive. I couldn't find any info on Corazza Bildt.

All other MEPs voted FOR the amendment and AGAINST the directive.

[Steam] had practically all of the problems people are complaining about now with Epic.

I see this line of thinking quite a lot, and I feel like it leaves out the fact that Steam sort of pioneered its kind of business. Basically every feature Steam has, Valve had to create. The Epic Store does not have this problem. The set of features that are expected from an online gaming storefront can be found in many of its competitors, so I really don't see why I should be patient while they reinvent the wheel.

I really don't see how this game will succeed. Not on a world where it has to compete against Destiny and The Division. Besides, you only get one launch, and Anthem have already had theirs. I really hope it turns out well, because the game is gorgeous and really tickles my sense of wonder (with the flying and great sound design). But I don't think it has what it takes.

It seems like it is going pretty well. It has already beaten Anthem in viewing time on Twitch, which is very impressive. I normally have no interest in the battle royale genre at all, but this one has gotten me really close to giving it a go. Although it saddens me greatly that we basically got this at the expense of a potential Titanfall 3, it makes me happy that Respawn are doing well.

I wanted to like Endless Legend so bad, but the combat just takes so long. Everything else is excellent: the races feel special and play in unique ways, the tech tree is non-linear, the game handles strategic resources way better than civ5 (which is my go-to turn based strategy game), and the art style and graphics are just stunning tbh. But the combat just sucks all the fun out of the game for me. I can understand that one might appreciate its depth, but it's just so loong.

The way he kept talking in an apologetic way had me worried that they had canceled it. What a relief! It makes me happy that Nintendo is willing to take such drastic measures to protect the integrity of their games, even if it means we haave to wait another three or four years (or however long it may take).
