We did have a Referendum on an alternative vote back in 2011 pushed through by the Lib Dems who were in coalition with the Conservatives at the time. I was 11 years old at the time so I don't remember what the campaigns fully were like but the vote ended in a resounding "no" for changing the system.

DefaultWizard LinkFinal Fantasy XIV (Steam Link) is a definite slow burn for me, particularly the main story of the base game. It's very slow to start off with, with the main story really picking up around levels...Final Fantasy XIV (Steam Link) is a definite slow burn for me, particularly the main story of the base game. It's very slow to start off with, with the main story really picking up around levels 30-40. This does mean for the first perhaps 30 hours the story feels like it's spinning its wheels. However, I think pretty much everyone who didn't get filtered out by the base game then praises the story of the expansions for very good reason.

I'm not sure the age the vote should be brought forward to but 16 is definitely where I'd start it out at.

It might turn out to be an interesting year after all if the Ferrari and McLaren updates prove fruitful.

From what I've read about this set there's two reasons why -
First, is that one of the themes of the set is "villains" to match the cowboy/outlaw theme of the plane. They decided to make the plane empty pre-omenpaths to avoid any allegory to how the native americans were treated by colonisers, which has resulted in the set feeling a bit like "hey remember this minor bad guy from X set? They're here too now in a cowboy hat and wearing spurs!" to actually give the set enough cards.
The Second is (which I read somewhere but can't find again) that they're going to be doing crossover sets between planes about once a year. And with their release schedule it's got to be in a standard legal set as the rest of the calendar is now being taken up with Universes Beyond or rereleases and they got rid of core sets because they weren't selling well enough I believe.

I've been struggling with what I think is ADHD for the whole year, keeping myself on track and task for things has become rather challenging (I'm procrastinating from many thing while I'm writing this) and the UK healthcare system for all its benefits has a several month waiting list for an ADHD diagnosis.
I have so many things I want to do or try, but they're stuck in limbo until I decide that I'm going to hyperfocus on them for a week or two and then drop them until they strike my interest again.
Going into 2024 I'm looking at (hopefully) a bit of a career change, and to get some long-term things rolling that I've been putting off for however long. Between the ADHD diagnosis, and getting myself to get these things started I hope that's going to fulfill what I've defined as the criteria in my head (but haven't written down). Also to catch up on my game backlog that's slowly getting longer and longer. That's a tertiary goal for the year though.

DefaultWizard Link ParentI think they got their numbers wrong. A cursory google suggests that about 60% of smartphones in the US are iPhones, whereas 70% of smartphones worldwide are android. So if you're an android user...I think they got their numbers wrong.

DefaultWizard Link ParentSo Antonelli is the current prodigy running around the junior circuits. He won Italian F4 and ADAC (German) F4 last year, and then Formula Regional Middle East & Formula Regional Europe this year...So Antonelli is the current prodigy running around the junior circuits. He won Italian F4 and ADAC (German) F4 last year, and then Formula Regional Middle East & Formula Regional Europe this year as a rookie entrant for everything but Italian F4 where he did half a season the year before he won and still came 10th. He's skipping F3 and going straight to F2 next year. I'm hoping he doesn't get caught out by this jump, but only time will tell. If he does well next year I can only imagine where he'll end up.
RE: Norris, that entirely makes sense. It's been a bit of a weird career for him so far without a real benchmark, or one that isn't Ricciardo struggling with the car day in day out.

For the Merc seats I'd kind of like Antonelli come up for 2026/7 to replace either Russell or Hamilton depending on if he gets swallowed up by F2 next year/2025. Alternatively it would be nice to see Leclerc in a team that doesn't fuck up like Ferrari.
Also, may I ask why don't you rate Norris? IMO he's the driver performing the best out of the non verstappen-hamilton duo who are very clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

They're Sci-Fi but it's a set of stories...I'd fully recommend the Wayfarers quadrilogy (I've linked to the first book in the series) to anyone with a pulse and an interest in stories about people.
They're Sci-Fi but it's a set of stories about believeable characters, there's no real stakes or typical good guys/ bad guys plot, but small scale stories about small casts of tight-knit people. I got one of my friends reading the books and he threatened to hurt me after getting about half way into the first book if anything happened to any of the crew.
I think they're really incredible.

DefaultWizard Link ParentBlack Mage in XIV isn't that difficult in concept. You cast Fire 3 once, and then Fire 1 or Fire 4 depending on what you have unlocked until you're out of mana. Then you cast Ice 3, and then Ice...Black Mage in XIV isn't that difficult in concept.
You cast Fire 3 once, and then Fire 1 or Fire 4 depending on what you have unlocked until you're out of mana. Then you cast Ice 3, and then Ice 1/4 until you're back up at max mana. Rinse and repeat until target is dead.
AOE is very similar, Cast Fire 2 3 times and then flare, then ice 2 and freeze to go back up to full mana.
However, making all of this work with moving around for attacks is the real skill with the job. Also it doesn't help that the job evolution doesn't feel as smooth as the other jobs do. Hopefully it's something that they can fix for 7.0

DefaultWizard LinkI've had some mixed feelings about where it started for many years. I initially got into the series with ME2 & 3 back in 2013 or so. And they were great. I loved the gameplay and the story...I've had some mixed feelings about where it started for many years.
I initially got into the series with ME2 & 3 back in 2013 or so. And they were great. I loved the gameplay and the story enthralled me (I didn't even hate the ending for ME3). I never got into ME1 as I just could not get on with the gameplay.
Come the Legendary Edition remasters, and I play through ME1 for the first time and it was incredible. It became the best of the trilogy for me. And ME2 got way worse. The story set up by ME1 was more or less discarded by the second game for almost an entirely new plot, and then 3 was supposed to tie them all up together neatly? It would have been a mess regardless of how long the dev time was for 3, or even if Karpyshin stayed on for it.
I feel like they started going awry in story at 2. Cerberus, who previously were a small group of enemies that occasionally popped up in the side missions suddenly were this incredibly resourceful weathly shadow organisation?
I also played Andromeda for the first time then too and found it enjoyable enough if not exactly groundbreaking or even as good as the original trilogy.

DefaultWizard LinkI think the issues drivers were having were not necessarily caused (the heat definitely was the main factor) but definitely not helped by the fact the race was a forced 3 stop so they essentially...I think the issues drivers were having were not necessarily caused (the heat definitely was the main factor) but definitely not helped by the fact the race was a forced 3 stop so they essentially were doing 57 quali laps rather than being allowed to cool down or relax a bit more.
Hopefully next year's race being 6 weeks later does a lot to make it safer for the drivers.

As a McLaren fan, they definitely screwed themselves out of a 1-2 here by letting their drivers fight. If Lando/McLaren are serious about the WDC challenge, they need to be telling Oscar he can't be doing that lap 1 (I don't think he did anything wrong if they were allowed to race/fight, Lando left the gap and Oscar went for it). Their car had the pace seeing them both just bang out fastest laps.
As a Leclerc fan, what a race to win. The two most important ones for him and he smashes them both. Props to Carlos for seemingly saying the 1 stop could work, and for holding up both McLarens to the point they couldn't catch Charles.
Red Bull seem to be in the doldrums for the moment. If you had told me at the start of the year max wouldn't win a race for now 6 races straight I would have not believed you at all. We might see a resurgence at Baku, but Singapore has never been strong for Max.
For the WDC 62 points with 8 races and 3 sprints left seems like a task for Lando, but if Red Bull continue like this I think he'll clinch it. WCC seems like a lock for McLaren at this point, but Ferrari may even end up knocking Red Bull down to third by the end of the year.
What a year it's been.
