Interesting. I felt the series did a much better job than the book overall, which at least made sense to me. I think Wool started as a series of novellas by a first time author on the new (at the time) Kindle format, right?

I thought the series did a good job smoothing it out and introducing the important characters.

Wool was the weakest of the books, IMO, so I’m excited to see where they take it.

Is the little trailer formatted like a horror movie to make it clear to investors what to expect?

Does Android not let you approve permissions independently? I just denied Contacts access on iOS. App still works great. It doesn’t request photos/microphone on iOS either.

The usual complaint was they are lenient on/promote imported brands and are critical of domestic US vehicles. I didn’t really see it, but that was the criticism.

The biggest issue I have with them is that it often takes so long to gather data and publish the results that you can’t even get half the stuff they tested anymore. Either the items were discontinued or there are new versions. Are the new ones as good as what was tested? Who knows!

These are the folks that left Instagram before it became what it is today, so perhaps there’s hope?

In my idealized version the app is the product, not the users. That’s definitely the biggest risk in Artifact.

With the exception of the early Model S, the 12V is pretty easy to get to. They don’t require mobile service, you can go get a 12V from the store like anyone else. As the article mentions Tesla installs LiIon LV batteries now that are 16V, but you can install a normal 12V if you want. The LiIon ones just last longer for this use case.

    From the article:

attempting to jump the 12-volt battery and wasn't even able to get the access point to the charging port open.

So this is really no different than writing an article about any car owner who doesn’t know the service details of their vehicle. The charge point is the high voltage pack access. The spot to jump the 12V is in the front. The user manual documents the process in detail, and is featured prominently in the app so it can be accessed even if you can’t get into the vehicle.

Ah. They’ve been affiliated for a long time (theme parks, etc.) so I didn’t realize it predated the transfer. Fair enough.

I don’t know. Crystal Skull was an abomination. To me, it seemed like the only reason they even tried to make this one was so Crystal Skull wasn’t the last entry in the series.

This was the last franchise they hadn't completely ruined

Yeah, as someone whose wife is an orthopedic surgeon, I’m well aware of this part at least.

As silly and benign as it all seems it is indicative of the elitist horrible all boys club found in surgery, particularly orthopaedics. That elitism prevents change and maintains the status quo.

If you called a surgeon Mr. here, you’d get the same response as calling them a Dr. there!
