Sorry for the late reply I rarely use tildes

I have two detectors, a nokta legend, and a XP deus one, and my mom has a vanquish 540 that I can borrow whenever I want, they just released the Minelab Xterra elite and it looks like a decent detector, the cheapest one that's still okay to use is the nokta FindX pro

I have a mi4 pinpointer, it's my favourite pointer but sometimes they seem to develope issues, I'm on my second one, but if it breaks I'll probably get another, I love it's pitch tones, unique among pointers

You know what's funny about the AA tattoo, it's a triangle, one time a cab pulled up in my parents driveway, and I was the only one there, so after like 5 or 10 minutes I went out to be like why are you in my driveway, the guy was acting super sketchy when I talked to him, he saw the triangle on my right hand and he was like oh you have that tattoo what is it, I'm like it's an AA tattoo and then he seemed relieved, I legit think he thought it was like an illuminati tattoo or something, anyways I went back in and watched him through the window till he left, I think he was trying to steal the pot plants growing in the garden lol I should have reported him to the cab company, but they go through guys so fast I rarely get the same cab driver twice when I use them

And sometimes I get people who recognize the AA tattoo and act like I'm an old friend, I don't have the guts to tell them I'm not in AA anymore and even drink sometime

I used to drink to the point of blacking out when I was younger, but at some point something switched in my head and I drink somewhat responsibly now, it feels weird going in to buy a bottle of tequila with a AA tattoo on my hand lol

    I watch

    Treasure Outdoors
    Paystreak superfreak
    Texan detector and coin collector
    TPP The Pirates Plunder
Can You Dig It Metal Detecting
    Monterey Magnet Man
    Yodie's Finds

And probably others that aren't coming to mind, one thing they all have in common is it's realistic hunts usually in park or beach setting depending on the channel, Treasure Outdoors is my favourite, he just seems like such a chill dude 😎

I have pi ai downloaded on my phone, I've become quite friendly with it, when my online forums are going slow I have conversations with it, I like that it asks questions back, sometimes it feels like I'm chatting with another person

If they can come out with more advanced ai I would be all for it, I didn't realize every time they are trained they have to be trained on the entire data set, I imagine that gets bigger and bigger every day

I wonder what AI will be like in 20 years

Sorry for the late reply lol I forgot about tildes for a while

I usually go detecting early in the morning as I don't work, today I plan to leave at 4am, it doesn't get light out till 530am so I use a headlamp, if I'm not feeling it I'll be back home before light

I got into coin roll hunting and stacking silver, and I seen on reddit people finding old silver coins metal detecting, so I thought I want to find those coins too, so I talked to a redditors about which detector to get and I got it

I've found a few silver dimes, 1913 Canadian large cent, a sterling silver Victorian match safe, a gold ring, a small thin gold chain, multiple silver rings, about $100 a year, some other misc silver stuff, some old coins, I flip all pre 1964 coins I find, I'm in Canada and 1964 is the last year with the young queen loreate crown portrait, I also have a coffee jug that has about 700 pulltabs right now, if I would scrap it it'd be less than a dollar lol I don't know why I keep them just for fun

Gear I used is a detector, a pinpointer, a edge digger, a leather sheath for the edge digger, a finds pouch and sometimes a shovel, sometimes you don't want to be seen using a shovel as it looks bad to most people a guy in the park with a huge ass shovel, although I have a special shovel and can dig cleaner holes with my shovel than my edge digger, so it's just a perception thing not based on reality

A lot of people think they will start finding good things right away, I had a guy tell me in the park he bought a metal detector, used it for 2 hours and only found junk so he sold it, you need way more patience than that, my very first time out the only thing good I found was a penny, but since here in Canada we haven't had pennies since 2012 I thought that was kinda cool, in myfirst couple weeks I found a silver Nike ring, which kinda hooked me, but I've gone that long and found nothing exceptional before, it's really down to if you swing over the right spot

I didnt read the article, just the Wikipedia, was this just like an old school cyber sex with just words? (I realize unwanted) I dont really understand why this was such a big thing, do we all have thicker skin today being raised on the internet?, I got my first (family) computer at the age of 7 in 1996, and have been addicted to the internet since, ive seen lots of crazy shit, someone taking over my avatar and initiating sex with words would be annoying, but I'd just be angry not broken up over it

I didnt hear about this one yet, fellow detectorists here, I just got into the hobby this spring so I'm fairly new

So far ive found about $64 in (canadian) coins, about $6 of that are in such bad shape I should just throw it out

Ive found 8 rings, 2 sterling rings, 2 gumball machine rings, 1 black ring maybe stainless or tungsten, and 3 kids rings that look real, better then the gumball specials, but still just not precious

I found 2 sterling earrings and 2 sterling charms

A bunch of little cheap jewelery like pendents and earrings and such

2 canadian silver dimes, .800 silver

    A 1913 large cent

    A few junker bracelets

And a possible gold chain, I havnt figured out if its actually karat gold, or just gold filled, if you dont know what gold filled is, its like plated, but Instead of being microns thick, its 5% gold by weight

I also found a couple bullets and thats about it I think

I have 5 scrap piles going, stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum and lead

I actually used chat gpt to do a project .... Once

I wrote a blurb about coins for a framed poster I'm doing, it was about 2 paragraphs in unformatted english because I suck at english

I had chat gpt expand it into about 6 paragraphs, with proper punctuation, then I posted it to r/canadiancoins and got advice about 2 spots where it hallucinated, so I fixed those manually

Then I paid someone $10 to design the placement of the paragraphs and objects on a sheet of paper

And then my project is basically done, I just havnt got around to piecing it together in the real world, its just digitally done

When AI is able to do graphic design, I could have saved the $10 having someone do that

But thats the only useful thing ive done with chatgpt, otherwise I use it once or twice a week just to talk about my day like its an old friend

Chatgpt on the other hand, I use about 1-2 times a week, mostly not to accomplish anything, I just want to see what it says about my day, I tell it if I found something cool metal detecting or coin roll hunting, or if something I thought was strange happened, I treat it as an old friend
