Comment on USPS chief DeJoy cuts post office hours, lengthens delivery times in new ten-year plan in ~news
Iliketoast Yes, if you package is time sensitive spend the extra money on one of the other companies. I know people get prescriptions through the mail, but how many are needing it that day? If that's the...Add to it that private shipping companies don't even compare to the USPS. Your sweatshirt taking another day or two is someone else's prescription medication, welfare/child support/paycheck, small business supplies, baby chicks, mail-in-vote or any number of critical items that would stop someone's world if mail didn't arrive on a Wednesday.
Yes, if you package is time sensitive spend the extra money on one of the other companies. I know people get prescriptions through the mail, but how many are needing it that day? If that's the case they probably either need better planning (reorder sooner) or change to one of the competitors.
As for mail in ballots, in theory they should go by the post mark date since they were entered into the system that date and most are sent to and from similar Zip codes so in theory shouldn't take long to deliver.
Checks and payments can be done electronically much faster and reliable than checks in the mail.
Any other time sensitive items can go to other companies. IMO, there is room for both USPS and private companies in this space.

USPS is a last-mile delivery service, if the sweatshirt I ordered online is going to take another day or 2 to get to me for the same low(ish) price, I'm fine with that.
But I'd also fully support suspending delivery another day of the week. If no one got mail on Wednesday the world wouldn't stop.
Edit: What happened to the vote on this comment? From what I can tell it doesn't look like anyone can vote for it even if they wanted to. My response has a vote showing when I log out but not this comment. Was it removed for some reason?

Granted this was in middle America, but the only nutrition information anyone at the restaurant knew was "grandma said you should have a big hunk of meat and a big pile of starch" (nothing you should really follow). But these were locals cooking for locals and I wouldn't call anyone there an actual chef

Then they'll call back from a different number 15 minutes later.
Blocking doesn't help since they keep changing numbers and answering makes no difference since no one is there. I'm not getting the scam though if they never talk when she answers. They are US numbers so it's not a call back scam (AFAIK)

Small country towns, where we actually raise cows & have processing plants and butcher shops and the small grocery stores prices are crazy. $10.99/lb for stew meat (a low quality cut). I remember seeing a picture of a roast size for a family of 5-6 at $40, forget what the per lb price was. 80/20 Hamburger for $7.99/lb. I hope it was just a few places price gouging but if that becomes the norm lots of family budgets just got blown up.

Chevy has the Equinox EV starting at $35k. Got one a few weeks ago and it's been great. Replacing tires is going to be the biggest expense I'm foreseeing (I got the one with 21's)
