It’s not much, and I would be glad to give someone something they’d enjoy and are having a hard time finding.

Otherwise, best of luck with the author :)

I'm not a fan of the album version, but played live, with the audience joining in, it is beautiful. This is the song I want played at my funeral.

Yea, you’re right, that entire album is fantastic. I know it’s one of the more popular songs on there, but I could listen to Big Empty by STP all day.

Darkness from The Crow soundtrack is another good song of theirs, that you don't hear about often. They also got me reading Chomsky believe it or not. They had a website up in the early days of the internet and would talk about him on there.

Heart of Madness sounds intriguing too. There's a writer on Reddit that I follow, that you may enjoy (or be inspired by), since the genres sound similar. Her Chosen and Silvertongue series are my favorites at the moment.

I really like this idea, and I think it would be very effective in curating content and keeping the quality high in the groups. The way you track sufficient trust score would have to be nailed down appropriately, and you'd need to have a certain amount of users with this score for the system to be effective, but otherwise it sounds great!

Maybe one way to calculate sufficient trust score would be some kind of reputation system where users get a unique score for each group they participate in.

40% counted towards # of topics approved with X months

    • shows they are actively participating and posting articles that are appropriate for the group

30% counted towards # of comments with X votes within X months

    • shows they are actively engaging with people, and that other people like their comments

20% counted towards # of points that existing, trusted users have given them

    • trusted users could receive X points every X months for being a trusted user, and they can award these points to people for topics they especially like (maybe these points expire too)

10% counted towards # of total article votes within X months

    • this could be compared to the highest number of votes anyone ever got in the group, and would determine the popularity of the content they are submitting

This gives every user a reputation score out of 100 and at X score they automatically become a trusted user (maybe something like 70%), and because the metrics are based on X months the user's reputation will change over time. They can lose their trusted user position for no longer contributing quality content.

This is actually a system I came up with when creating my own Reddit alternative a few years back, lol. It just never gained enough users for me to see if the system worked well or not.

Jimmy Maher typically writes on the history of computer games, but he has lately taking up writing a series on the history of the Microsoft Windows operating system. As usual, he puts a lot of quality research into his articles, and the series is quite remarkable so far.

Doing Windows, Part 1: MS-DOS and Its Discontents
Doing Windows, Part 2: From Interface Manager to Windows
Doing Windows, Part 3: A Pair of Strike-Outs
Doing Windows, Part 4: The Rapprochement

I see there is an issue open to add a saving feature for topics, which is great! I would like to make a suggestion for this feature.

Do you think it would be possible to give users the ability to add their own tags to a saved topic?

A lot of times I search for content related to a project I am working on, and it would be nice if I could tag the topics I find as "project-xyz", as this would allow me find them easily when I come back to reference something. This tag would be useless to anyone else, but having our own personal tags, that only we can see, would be very useful in curating content.

One way this could be done is by having a new section named "Your Tags" that appears under the existing "Tags" one, in the sidebar for a topic. Then on the Saved page, the sidebar could list all your unique tags, and clicking one would filter the topics.

Anyway, just throwing out an idea. I can add a comment to that GitLab issue, if this is a possibility and something people are interested in.

AsciiDoc is similar in style to Markdown, but it is a lot more comprehensive. The lists support labels, wrapping, line continuation and other complex content.

I have been working with Pony a lot lately, and I got the basis for a Win32 wrapper built about a month back. Since then I took a break from it and have been trying, unsuccessfully, to create some Pony bindings for CEF. I have initialization working, but the browser keeps crashing on startup, and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

Anyway, I have been spending a lot of time thinking about GUIs lately and would really like to implement a cross-platform library of some kind. If anyone has similar interests, or a related project, then I'd love to hear about it!

I’ve read the entire series, multiple times, and it does really affect your world view. I was obsessed with the books in my younger years, but not so much now. I can confirm some of the practices do work though, and even though I would argue its mostly fictional, there is some bits of truth amongst the crazy. My personal favorites are Journey to Ixtlan, Tales of Power and The Art of Dreaming.

There is also a great site that compiles the “teachings” from his books, if you’re interested in that aspect of it. It saves you from having to read all 12 books!
