So the difference between alliance and horde is not that one faction is evil and one is good. The Alliance is about civilization and order and organization whereas the horde is about savagery, tradition, and outcasts.

The alliance isn't the good guys, they're the organized political kingdom that all works together for a common purpose. They have laws, order, and a common understanding between each other to all work together. Often they're linked by their religion, as most of the alliance worships the holy light, which aligns them as more good-ish, but plenty of alliance people have used the light for their own purposes, like real life religion.

The horde are the savages, the outcasts of the world. Each race has their own distinct culture and traditions and every race has their own wants and needs. The only thing that unites the horde with itself is that the world is against them otherwise. Every race in the horde is an outcast somehow, and by banding all the outcasts together, the horde has become strong. The horde often has lots of internal conflicts coming from its varied cultures, like how the undead are a mostly evil race while the tauren are mostly good. Their views are opposed, but they know they can't survive without the others.

So in general, the alliance are Rome, the organized kingdom that shares its culture among its people and tends to have its enemies be more political, whereas the horde is Gaul, the savage divided people who are all rallied together to survive and tends to have lots of internal issues and clashes.

Both factions are supposed to do both good and bad things and be mostly in the middle. Maybe the alliance leans slightly towards good and the horde leans slightly towards evil, but in general they're both neutral.

The thing that's disappointing is that they've kind of thrown this out with sylvanas and made her basically straight up evil and the horde just does what she says which also then makes the alliance put in the place of straight up good guys. It's very lame for factions that both used to be more neutral.

I'm a computer science student in my last year of study and I've been trying to put everything I've learned together into a game.

It's like final fantasy 1, but uses a card game for its combat system on your turn. Basically, it's final fantasy, but instead of having all your abilities available on a list, you draw a card with an ability and can play those abilities on your turn to do things.

It's been going pretty well. Development is slow because of working on summer classes, but I think it's going well. Going to keep the graphics simple because I'm not that great on the art front.

Story wise, I'm going for a more comedic tone. The main plot is the whole "character wakes up in a strange world" kind of story, but the main character is fully aware of how rediculous the whole concept is in real life and doesn't really go along with the strange world he's found himself in. It makes fun of the whole trope as well as traditional fantasy game plots and tropes.

Hopefully it'll go well. I'm really enjoying working on all of it.

Something like that would need lots of random encounters that altered the story. Think the random encounters in fallout 3, but each one impacts your story and alters how the world shapes up. Eventually, everything ends up leading to your own unique story and unique ending.

I'd play a game like that forever.

What I want to see is the series getting back to basics. Many of the newer games tried crazy things with the story, the armies, the mechanics, and all sorts of other things. But what they need to do is get back to what made them successful and make just a solid RTS, stick to the simple and clean mechanics, and make the two factions distinct. Nod is the cult filled with terrorists worshipping a quasi religions figure in Kane, and GDI is the government military force trying to keep the peace. No need for aliens or moving the setting away from the cold war style era.

I think if they kept everything clean and easy and stuck to their roots it would be wildly successful.

I'm still trying to figure out myself and I want to try some new things on that front to see how it feels soon.

And I know it's stupid to think I'm worthless, but it's my feeling with myself. I wish I could get therapy, but I really don't have the means for it right now.

Plus trying to get therapy for both my horrible image of myself and my gender identity at the same time is going to end up way more expensive than anything I could hope to afford right now, especially with no insurance and on a college student budget.

But thanks again for being supportive!

I feel loneliness a lot. I don't think my self esteem is frankly very great at all. I've had several bad relationships and the last one was pretty abusive to me as well. The fact that I'm questioning my gender identity right now doesn't help me either.

And I look around and see all these people around me with their happy relationships and people who love and care about them and I'm just really sad because I've never had anything like that and I don't think I will ever have that. I feel unlovable and it makes me extremely lonely.

At this point, my ideal relationship would just be one where the other person cares about me and puts in the same amount of effort as I do. But that's never happened. I'm constantly taken advantage of. Maybe That's what I deserve?

Anyways, I'm getting off topic. The point I'm getting at here is that my huge lack of self esteem in this kind of area and my horrible past experiences leads me to feel extremely alone all the time because I feel like I'm worthless and unworthy of being loved.

So yes, loneliness is a huge thing and I feel it every day weighing down on me constantly. That's my experience I guess.

I'll agree with everyone else and say finding a good group is key. A group who's all on the same page about what they want from the game and a dungeon master who's willing to oblige them is the biggest thing that's going to make things go well.

Other than that, try to get your hands on the player's handbook. It'll teach you everything you need to know to play the game with lots of options in it. Since you've already played, I'd really suggest the player's handbook over the basic rules guide since you probably already know the basics after a session and the players handbook goes more in depth.

Lastly, have fun with your character. Start with them as a character first, with their background, their motivations, their personality first. Then figure out what kind of class and race fits them. That leads to a much better character overall and it'll make role-playing as them far easier in game.

Have fun! DnD is awesome and it's one of the best games out there. Good luck!

I wouldn't say they're lacking on their own per say, but they're lacking when you compare them to quests from other elder scrolls games in the past.
For example, we'll take my favorite faction, the dark brotherhood, from both oblivion and skyrim.
Many of the dark brotherhood quests in skyrim were forgettable. They sent you to kill a random NPC in the middle of A town and then go home. Albeit, there were some good ones, especially killing the emperor at the end, but many of the quests were foegetble. In addition, the brotherhood seemed like a decrepit and falling apart little organization that no one cares about.
I'm oblivion, you were feared. The brotherhood was a massive threat to people and many of your targets would freak out when they discovered who you were. Each quest was a puzzle in itself to compete with unique objectives and memorable moments, especially the one where you turned a house party against itself.
There's many moments like this, where skyrim feels generic in comparison to quests in either oblivion or morrowind. So not that skyrim was bad, just that it wasn't nearly as good as the previous two games in the series were.

I was really disappointed with halo 5, so I'm hoping to see halo 6 get back to basics. I want things to feel like halo again. Halo 5 just didn't feel like it. Halo 4 was good, and reach was better. Building more in that direction would help them.
And I just really want to see the flood as enemies again and see firefight come back as a multiplayer mode.

I've been waiting for another elder scrolls for so long now and ESO just hasn't hit that same itch. Hopefully they head in a more oblivion or morrowind direction with their quests instead of being like skyrim. I think sticking the quest structure of morrowind and the gameplay of skyrim in a new setting would be the perfect mix for this game.

I'm pretty worried about this one. To me, Fallout is all about that single player adventure in the wasteland. While I know people have been wanting to adventure with their friends for a while, I don't think this is what they asked for.
I think that the only way this will end up well, is if they build it like it's a normal Fallout game, but then let other people be in the world, which could be really fun. But that doesn't look like the way they're going. They said you could play it all solo, but it sounds like it's going to be that there will be things that you can't do solo, such as launching the nuke they showed off.
I feel like this will go the way ESO went, where people will play it on and off, but it won't be the massive success that previous games in the series were.
