Back then you needed a pop-up blocker for any hope of a peaceful browsing experience. You also needed an antivirus because you could easily get viruses from browsing the wrong sites (Mostly from vulnerabilities in ActiveX, Java applets, Flash, etc.). Even worse when the pop-up blocker software you are using becomes a malware itself.

I eat that biscuit and some scientist finds 10 biscuit calories in my poop. Why even look if CICO isn't a thing? Because it is a thing.

Finding an intriguing post on Reddit only to discover that the top comments are all jokes or wordplay rather than actual contributions to the discussion is a very disappointing experience, especially when the jokes are all rehashed and reused.
I see a lot of videos on TikTok that are just people commenting on current events and news. Whether I agree with their opinions or not, it feels genuine and diverse, a much-needed break after years of watching Reddit slowly diverge into having a singular viewpoint/ideology.
I used to think TikTok was all about funny videos and pranks, but it actually has a lot of interesting content, and the comment section on videos is actually usable, unlike Meta products, so you get to hear some discussions on those viewpoints.
