Having just put my 16yo Yorkie mutt down 3 weeks ago, we had joked for years that he was on deaths door. This past year has been really hard; he could almost never make it outside to go, fell down the stairs a few times, needed help in and out, he would go a few days without eating then pick back up. Then right after labor day, he just.. never picked back up. Also stopped drinking water. After a week I took him to the vet, he was just a bag of bones, and he had lost 30% of his weight. We didn't go through any diagnostic or get any real evaluation; the vet said it might show something, or it might just show he's an old dying dog. We decided to put him down then, and everything just happened so quickly after just dragging on for so long.

What about twitch streamers? They're mic'd up for hours on end, and constantly providing samples by typing chat messages. Seems like they would be the perfect target for attacks like this.

For what it's worth, the original film was titled "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" because everyone understands the most important character to be Willy Wonka. When Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the title of the Tim Burton movie, and also the Roald Dahl book) film came out , no one was comparing Charlies -- they were comparing Willy Wonkas and not a single word was said about the new one without mentioning Gene Wilder reverence first. Despite that, as you acknowledge, Charlie made nearly half a billion dollars at the box office, not to mention "Certified Fresh" on rotten tomatoes. And speaking anecdotally, a lot of kids like the Tim Burton movie better if given the choice because it's not "that weird old man". All to say: whatever your personal opinions on Charlie, it's far from a failure.

No surprise there. Lots of people are always complaining about any kind of housing of any form. As if the entire universe needs to cater directly to their equity. One of my hobbies is looking up the public records of people who complain about home equity impacts to see how much equity they have in their property (at least based on the original purchase price; no accounting for irresponsible equity practices).

A lot of NIMBYs push hard against affordable housing, because they don't want ((poor)) people living near them, but they're much less likely to oppose "55+ affordable housing". Lots of 55+ communities being built near me as well, and I see it on our local Facebook group. People are irate about housing "what about school crowding!" and irate about cost "I don't want affordable housing!" and all their complaints stop after they're informed it's 55+.
