Void makes me feel safe and clean. I always feel like I’m going to scuff up a new pair of shoes when I install something on it. It’s like I don’t want to mess it up lol

Tangent to a tangent, but state actors have a vested interest in pushing this as another vector for division.

Weakening population cohesion lowers the population itself. Not only in quantity but quality. So naturally weakening health care systems, TRUST in science, (vaccine skepticism), lowering birth rates, and adding friction to the connections between genders are all ways to make the population devour itself. Chasing off highly skilled immigrants instantly destroys a pool of skilled talent.

Most of these are organic movements but certainly amplified by bad actors, by design. When you can’t take your rival on the battlefield, you help them to fight themself.

You would think the connection between amplifying bros taking themselves too seriously and multi domain warfare would be comical and a stretch but that’s part of its genius.

The US population shrank for the first time in 2025

Want to get back to Wizardy Daphne but too lazy lately. Awesome for fans of old school Wizardry with lots of quality of life improvements and great storylines.

I felt this as I just went through it. This article was the reason I joined Tildes.

When you are the team air support, you don’t have any air support you can call in. Even the vendor support often runs away during critical moments. But everyone is leaning on you when in trouble. It definitely feels lonely, even for introverts who prefer their alone time. Who is taking care of the caretaker ?

I had someone check up on me and said, “I just wanted to see how you were doing.” Man, I really felt that and really appreciated it.

The whole thing felt like an existential crisis and a mourning.

I know the study was on those 50-80, but I’d say it can be just as lonely for bright eyed 20 year olds who are trying to find themselves or their Shining City. If they are in a new city with no pre-built network support, it can be even more lonely than someone with an established structure.

I think it would make a great follow up study for the author to focus on the lonely competence angle across age groups.

Overall I’m thankful though for the opportunity the role has given me. But I’d love to just have some peace of mind and unplug. Time for a vacation lol

I just built an api client last week and would have been a perfect use case for Go.

On the syntax, it’s definitely throwing me off, especially with variables, but I’ll pick that up with enough muscle memory. I think I just need to get over the anxiety from old C class when I see * and struct lol

“It’s okay, there’s no malloc here.” Haha

Overall I find the architecture really nice for those of us who don’t like complexity.

I looked at Rust but seemed far outside of my competency with the memory management and Go seems everywhere in infra so it’s a great fit.

Ah very cool, thanks for the tip. I noticed other users recommended KEXP so I found I could access KEXP from radio garden. Having 8000 stations to choose from is amazing.

Where’s everyone going for new music ? I found NTS radio recently. They seem to have a niche for everybody. I like to turn it on and find something new. Sometimes you find something awesome, sometimes it doesn’t resonate, but that’s part of the fun of treasure hunting. I found myself liking Norwegian folk music and I never would have in a million years even have known to look for it. My favorite channels usually originate out of London or Tokyo.

Curious about any discovery alternatives people are using.
