So far, palm oil industries have successfully stifled marketing and you can't easily find something free of palm oil.

Slightly off topic I know, but I'd like to take this opportunity to plug the PalmOil Scan app by Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Scan a barcode and it presents information on whether or not the item uses sustainable harvesting practices. A small drop in the bucket, but it helps my own mental health knowing that not every dime I spend goes to the destruction of wildlife habitats. I was personally pleased that my new favorite brand of cookie received an "Excellent" rating when I scanned the barcode (big ups to Famous Amos for changing their recipe and being cool dudes).

Haven't played Rimworld in a while myself, but two mods I remember not being able to live without are:

    • Color Coded Mood Bar to catch mood fluctuations quicker

    • Heat Map to give a visual indicator of temperature variances (for cold storage, bedrooms, etc).

I had about 40+ mods at one time for various things, but those are two that should be vanilla, just off the top of my head.

And you’ll have, you know, the Safdie brothers, and you’ll have Chris Nolan, you know what I mean? And hit ’em from all sides. Hit ’em from all sides, and don’t give up.

Hard to get a lot cozier than Minecraft. Watching the sunrise on your hilltop fort, or standing under an awning on a deck or balcony and watching the rain in comfort is just chef's kiss.

I'm a big fan of Fall Guys. Wife and I love to put it on and just vibe to wacky dumb (yet competitive!) fun. We've been more on a Fortnite kick lately though, which is also a fairly wacky and funny game. Probably not what you had in mind because it's a shooter, but the randomness of the items and powerups has us cackling with glee at times. There's nothing like fighting someone who is objectively better from a technical standpoint and winning because I thought to just burn their overly-elaborate structure down with a jar of fireflies (read: kid-friendly molotov).

Hello all and welcome to the weekend! We made it. Or if your weekend doesn't begin until later, you'll make it yet!

Let's talk cozy games! You know the ones I'm talking about, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon. Games we used to call something else before the collective zeitgeist of the Internet decided to lump them all together under (which I'm personally fine with, I mean what do you call Animal Crossing anyway?)

In a stark contrast to my younger and more vulnerable years, I've become much more of "casual" gamer, and I find myself enjoying shorter bouts of play rather than becoming engrossed in the same world or story for hours on end. Games like Animal Crossing are perfect for this, in that I can just pick it up, talk to some villagers and go fishing or whatever, and put it down whenever I please. Not just that though, but I just absolutely love the warm and well, cozy vibe games like these offer. I've best heard them described as a warm mug of tea by a window as it rains outside.

Enough about me, let's talk about you! What "cozy" games do you enjoy? Feel free to lump them all together, who cares, it doesn't matter! We are all cozy games on this day.

I love the idea of planting food to honor someone's memory. The preparation and care, the daily check ups and continued effort as a means to reflect on a loved one that is no longer with us simply makes my heart sing. Please feel free to share a memory of your step father with us, I would be grateful to share in his memory.

It's not a male failing, it's a failing of society in general to actually give a damn about other people.

Can it not be one in the same? Emotional intelligence is certainly a real concept, just think of how many men (such as myself) have difficulties expressing emotion to other men or form greater attachments to their mothers because their fathers were more stoic and aloof? If this is indeed a societal failing, how do you parse this concept with the greater social ramifications that AI "relationships" are undoubtedly going to have?

Also, I feel that you inadvertently helped to prove the point @KneeFingers was trying to make, in that there are a lot of people out there that have difficulty forming relationships, and using AI as a crutch can almost certainly stifle the emotional growth necessary to form and maintain long-lasting relationships.

Building off that point, it's undeniable that recent generations have less friends than previous gens, and overall the general rate is going down, and I feel it's important to have this conversation. People are more isolated than ever, and for many the sense of community they once had has eroded. What greater effects will the prevalence of "AI relationships" and generated sex work have on an already fractured society?

If you've played the older Pokemon games already, I highly recommend checking out the rom-hack Pokemon Crystal Clear. Open world, can start in whichever city you want with a variety of starters, a lot of QoL improvements and neat features you'd expect in a modern title, but it's still very much a cozy GBC game.

I agree with most of this comment. I need to buy stuff and corporations are by and large operated by terrible people, so for my own mental health and cognitive dissonance avoidance, I try and do alright by what I purchase. I understand that by my direct actions of purchasing certain items, I am supporting all sorts of nasty shit, so I try to avoid what I can. Just in case heaven exists, as I like to say.

But enough about me, what about you! As far as no longer donating, how do you parse the owner still choosing to support opposition to the Equal Rights Act? It's not as if he was just granted this money, I imagine a lot of it came through virtue of owning the business. I personally do agree with the article I linked, that it's difficult (if not objectively impossible) to separate the owner from a company like this, in that if you support one, you support the other, so I'm curious as to what others have to say and expand upon.

Please mind that I'm not calling you out personally or attacking you, just curious as what you or others may believe when talking about the concept of owner v. businesses they own. It's such a nuanced thing to discuss, because ya know, late stage capitalism, so I can't help but find everything about this interesting; hence all my questions in the OP. I wanna pick them brains man!

From the article, written by Nancy Luna:

    • It's been four years since the chain retreated from the country after facing backlash for its history of donating to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations.

    • In 2012, CEO Dan Cathy, son of Chick-fil-A's founder Truett Cathy, said he did not support same-sex marriage. Though the chain stopped donations to several controversial groups in 2012, it continued to work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Salvation Army, two groups that have been criticized by LGBTQ+ advocates.

    • That past came to haunt them in the UK. The chain eventually pulled out after six months. A month after announcing the UK closure, Chick-fil-A said it would no longer donate to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Salvation Army.

    • In a press release, Joanna Symonds, Chick-fil-A's head of UK operations, said local operators will be encouraged "to partner with organisations which support and positively impact their local communities."

What do y'all think? If American, do you eat at Chick-Fil-a despite the social backlash? Do you think they've offered enough recompense for their anti-LGBT+ actions?

Seems that although the company itself is no longer donating to many of the same organizations they had supported, they are still directly linked to further anti-LBGT+ support via the owner. Do you consider the owner of the company to be a separate entity or essentially one in the same, as this article describes? Do you think it even matters to boycott? Let your voice be heard!

edit: Posting this in ~food because it's a news article concerning a fast food company, but was on the fence about posting it in ~news or ~lgbt.
