Yeah I agree I think they went all out with Phase whatever, ending with End Game. I just don't think you can top that. I think perhaps they don't have an idea how they WILL top that (except to include more diversity etc)... but nothing's gonna be as epic.

    I'm reading 2 books (and started a 3rd):

    1. Harry Potter & The Cursed Child - JKR
Opinion: Just finished all 7 Potter books so, continuing. Not liking it as must as the classic 7 books.
    2. We Are All Targets - Matt Potter
Opinion: He did an AMA on reddit, that's where I heard of it. So far trying to like it, writing style is "all over the place", if that's a style. Very long sentences with a lot of info. Not thoroughly enjoying it as much but will give it more time.
    3. Timeline - Michael Crichton
Opinion: You could say I'm a new-ish reader. As a kid I read a lot of sci-fi (Star Wars) and now that I'm picking up reading again I'm going thru the usual recommended lists. Never read any Crichton, but I am liking it. The pace is good, easy to read at a good pace.

OR I'm just a nerd and really like sci-fi / fiction. I've read a lot R.A. Salvatore (Dark Elf), Orson Scott Card, etc. When it comes to autobiographies, or non-fiction... I take a long time and get easily bored. Self-help books in particular I feel like it's a chore to pick it up.

2nd hand iPad because for the past 2-3 iterations of the iPad Pro they have been using overpowered processors already.. there is no point to get the latest and greatest. The 2020 iPad Pro still works wonders for me.

But Windows laptop otherwise because all the Windows equivalents to the MacBook ranges will be cheaper. From MB Air to MBP. And yes Windows machines can slow down if they're not well cared for over time (viruses, malware, far too many apps running on startup etc), but hardware as someone else said is just drawing the short straw. There will always be bad eggs, there will always be failures. Doesn't mean ALL Windows machines suck. I've had my HP laptop for 7 years now, apart from replacing the battery, everything else is all fine.

On the move, I just read on my phone (Kindle app). Not great, but it's good to kill 5-10 mins.

Came here to say this, you hit the nail on the head. It was a different kind of Internet when I was keying in any web address I saw, just cos it was fascinating.

Oh wow didn't even think of these, Encarta was pure joy. And I've had so many Geocities sites for the fun of it, typed out in notepad, but Homesite made 1 weeks worth of coding drop to a day.

IMO it's just a VERY unfortunate consequence of internet-for-all combined with human nature. I think we'd have "influencers" 30 years ago if we had the ease of media consumption we do now.
