The dog scene in Elven Lied. One of the toughest anime I've watched. The manga was rough too. I've only watched and read it once. Part of me wants to go back but I'm torn.

I like simple productivity tools to avoid spending too much time just tracking. For my personal projects I try to let them be organically. When I feel like I'm not making progress and have too many projects started I'll use

    • lists to gauge what I have going on
    • prioritize
    • focus on the top 1 or 2 projects I have time for

For time keeping I use reminders on my calendar. Then I don't worry what I'm missing, my phone reminds me.

    Top picks

    • Loaded baked potato. I couldn't eat for a month after I had complications with major abdominal surgery. Then I couldn't eat much because my stomach was small. A loaded baked potato has flavor and some chew but not too much if easing back into food is a concern.
    • Juicy lucy burger. Burger filled with cheddar cheese and a side of fries. Tasty good mouth feel.
    • Ribs. Chewing on the bone is the best part.

I'd buy a place near Chicago and set my point there. It's a main airport hub so easy to get around the country, similar to the big European hub idea. I like the city. And as long as I keep the place, my teleport point will be private. I'd get some kind of space that I could rent out part of it and keep my point off limits.

Cutting out carpeting is huge. I'm not as allergic to dust as your brother, but can't sleep in my bedroom when it gets too dusty. I got a cat and had more allergy problems as they got bigger, around a year old. I've only get places with no carpetting to reduce the dust accumulation. I can manage between vacuuming and washing floors.

Living on upper floors helps too. Seems like there's less dust up high. I'm also allergic to mold so higher up means less ground moisture it seems. Both the no carpeting and upper floors can make finding a place more expensive.

I got a pet vaccum and HEPA filter. I'm allergic to dust and my cat, aka my little allergin. I know I've fucked up when I can't sleep in my bedroom because I wake up couging.

    Wash everything.

    • Wash sheets, window curtains, pillows.
    • Vacuume and wash floors. I use the wet swifter pads. The wet wash helps get the top layer of dirt leftover from vacuuming.
    • Vaccum baseboards, surprising amount of dust on that little ledge
    • Vacuum the mattress
    • If you got a pet, brushing works wonders. I got a pet furminator brush and the hair just keeps coming off. They love it because it's all the dead hair. Then I have pet wipes to finish grooming.

Open windows usually helps me. The air is pretty clean where I'm at and the breeze circulates stale air I say. Having windows that provide good airflow is helpful too.

I have trouble with contacts and my optometrist diagnosed me with dry eye. Here's some things that worked for me on and off.

    • Warm moist compress daily or a few times a week, this takes 5 to 10 minutes per day
    • Tear suppliments, I used EyePromise EZ tears and it worked but it was expensive at $30.00 to $60.00/per month
    • Prescription dry eye medication, there are 2 types and 3 brands last time I checked. Used it once or twice a day. Note it does sting the first month but worked very well and got better after the acclimation period. Beware you may have a bad reaction to the medication. I had very good success with Xiidra and a bad reaction to Restasis that gave me blackouts and headaches. I stopped Xiirdra due to trouble with insurance.
    • I work on a computer, don't blink often, and don't close my eyes fully when I blink (didn't know that was a thing till my optometrist told me) so I have to be more conscious of blinking fully to compensate
    • I use preservative free artificial tears with my contacts though I mostly wear glasses for convenience and comfort
    • my optometrist measured my eye diameter and switched me from a 9.0 to 8.5 diameter, this moves around less on my eye which might help the irritation. I only learned this recently after wearing contacts over 15 years and having them not stick to my eye sometimes.

I hadn't heard about the oxygen rating. That sounds interesting to check out.

painting an empty room is way easier then a room full of furniture.

New home owner here. I thought about painting first then realized I don't know how I'm going to live in the space. I'm moved in and still figuring out what I like where. By moved in I mean boxes abouts. I like living in the space before deciding colors. And I don't have much stuff so not too worried about moving it around to paint.

I appreciate you taking the time to talk in this thread. People get concerned and defensive with the opinions you've shared in my experience. It's nice to see the conversation continue. I'll admit, I was concerned as well with your original statements about not existing but understand your tone in later comments.

Some thoughts on the topics I interpreted in this thread.

    • I agree that matter-of-factly if I didn't exist I wouldn't care and likewise if I died I wouldn't care because I would not exist. I don't feel like I need to change the world. I also don't try to make it worse. I have a cat. I like playing with her and that makes me happy. I'm cool with that. I agree with you that this sentiment is different than wanting to die. I consider more that my death would make my family and friends sad. That matters to me because I care about them.

    • Whatever reason people want to have kids is fine, as long as they are not harming the kids or others. Though I find it weird when people have kids to continue their interests, which is what the climate change focus reminds me of. Every person has their good and bad moments growing up. It's making a best effort to take care of your kid that's important. This includes stability in my book. I say this as a female-born adoptee abandoned in a place that preferred males under a single-child policy. I do not know why my birth parents made their decision, but my mom, adopted mom, is my mom. I'm happy with living, but I wonder if it would be more humane to kill a child you do not plan to care for than abandon them where they may or may not be found.

A year ago I wanted to have kids. Now I do not know. I've thought on reasons both ways. This is what I consider thinking before having a kid. All of it can be selfish if you look at it that way. Even wanting to care for someone else is selfish in a way.

    • I want to have biological kids, two because only children are odd in their own way without the social balance and other focus for their parents. Since I was abandoned, I have no biological family. I like the idea of having that connection. It always surprises me when I see families that look like each other and have that connection. If I do have biological kids, I want to have them with someone else I care that much for. I don't have that person right now.

    • I want to foster or adopt kids. I tend toward mentorship. I want to listen to people and if someone wants help I want to help them. I think I can care for a kid who doesn't have that care. Feeling cared for is an amazing feeling and one I want to share if I can. It's important to me to give that 'think' part of the statement enough thought. A kid isn't something you take back. And kids in need likely have scares because of it. It's hard to care for them. And I want to make the best effort to consider if I'm ready for that.

    • I don't want to have kids. I don't have a partner I want to have them with. I grew up in a home with one parent. They did a great job, but it is hard. It's hard for the parent and it's hard for the kid. Having one parent can be better than having two, but I'd like to have that partnership in raising a kid. I don't want to take care of a kid right now. I got a cat. She's enough responsibility for me. I love dogs. I decided not to get a dog because I didn't want the responsibility of taking them out and cleaning up after them and my place was too small for the size dog I wanted. I apply similar thinking to having a kid. Though having a kid is more rewarding in seeing them develop and grow into themselves vs a dog in my mind.

    • Legos. My friend was working on a set and I asked if I could help sort the pieces. Queue knolling. Then they asked for help building. It was a lot of fun to do together and a surprising date night. Plus I have anxiety and finding things that take mental and dexterity focus helps me chill out.

I got Cyberpunk Red and Ragnarok before I planned on playing. I just wanted to read the lore. Ragnorak is based on Celtic history. The RPGs remind me of the -ology book series I read when I was younger. Mythology, Dragonology, Egyptology.

I got my first nice knife recently. A Sakai Takayuki Santoku Knife from https://hasuseizo.com. I saw them at a local festival. I like the balance and wow does the sharpness make a difference. And it's beautiful. It does scare me some. I only clean it gently with a rag after I cut my finger the fist time I cleaned it. I hope to get another smaller knife if I find one that balances as well.

My friend enjoys forging knives which got me looking at them. I enjoy seeing the damascus patterns they make. The one I got is stainless steel because I didn't want the upkeep that their handmade knives require.
