Reseat your CPU, make sure mounting pressure is not too tight or too loose. Make sure you have enough thermal paste and good coverage. Make sure there isn't a plastic sticker still on there.

Reseat your Ram or remove some to see if one is intermittently failing.

Try plugging your GPU into another spot on your PSU if it's modular. If it's using that little dangly bit to turn a 4pin into 8pins, try using two cables to the PSU. You might have a bum rail. (this happened to me and it was a pain to troubleshoot.)

As others said, get a UPS to eliminate the input power as a possible point of failure.

Can anyone else chime in on this portion of the comment? When I read this, it sounded completely insane. But when I spoke with some other people they said it sounds plausible.

For some people, going to a sit-down restaurant lets them LARP as an old-money aristocrat for an hour.

    NixOs - deterministic Linux installation.
Didn't see it in the thread, not necessary beginner friendly, but I'm obsessed with NixOs. Nixos is the greatest Linux distro I have ever used. Every second with it is pure joy.
I'm not in it that deep. Just one config file for my whole system and a few shells for Dev environments. Not using flakes or home manager. Just enjoying the simplicity, predictably and stability as I play with my system.

For me, the Linux experience is defined by how the OS doesn't get in your way. No annoying pop ups, setting permissions for every app or setting up accounts. No logging into iCloud or being forced to use the app store. Not being forced to download xcode or pay for an app that does window snapping. You won't wake up and find copiolet installed on your computer or have to restart it all the time to install updates. You won't have to install driver packages trying to shove other services down your throat. Unified package managers let you install what you want and then you are done. None of that nonsense where you open an app and it makes you download an update.
In my experience it just works. It runs and stays out of your way. Its not flawless but its a hell of a lot better than Mac and Windows.

Give Linux a shot. It has become incredibly mature and stable. Try out Linux mint for a stable cohesive experience. Or anything with plasma if you want it to feel like a windows machine. If you dont have cutting edge hardware there is a solid chance it will work perfectly out of the box. If you stick with a Debian based system and use flatpacks I doubt you will miss anything from windows. There are also tons of options for gaming. No terminal required.

I'm a huge advocate for Signal. I push aggressively to get everyone I know to use it. An actual private means of communication in this day and age is so rare. Its frustrating that the discussion is over Blue or Green bubbles as opposed to owning your data or trusting your data with a company.
Its also frustrating that we don't have open standards to allow users the choice of platform, device and messaging service.
Its cool to see Beeper putting in the effort to support multiple messaging services. However I long for the days of interoperability when you could just choose whatever messenger you wanted, then talk to people on AIM, MSN, Hangouts, etc.

Finally playing Mass Effect. Got the legendary edition. Just beat the first game and enjoyed it a lot. But the second game feels like a slog. The plot of the second game also feels a little shoehorned in. Like they didn't intend for a second game so they just thought of some random alien and made them the bad guy. A far cry from the excellent and well defined antagonist Sarin, from the first game.

She has a signed picture of Brandon Sanderson on her wall. I think her passion for Brandon increases each year he delivers more and more books.

Make sure you are sleeping well. Sleep is essential for a good immune response.

Keep your mucus membranes moist. Heat gets cranked up in the winter and it dries everything out. Use a humidifier or a nasal saline spray. Your sinuses are a giant attack surface for colds to enter your bod. Keep them nice and mucusy.

Wearing a mask has the added benefit of being a physical barrier as well as keeping your mucus membranes moist.

*edit - Dont pick your nose.

I swear by vitamin D. It helps with a lot more than immune response. I tell leterally everyone I know to take more vitamin D. It helps me most with depression. Sleep well, eat right, exercise and I'm still depressed. Take vitamin D and its gone. Perhaps thats just me but I reccomend evryone give it a shot. Just be smart because its fat soluble and you can overdose. (As opposed to water soluble vitamins like Vitamin C, which you just pee out.)

And lock down your network. Since tunnels forwards all traffic through ports 80/443 you can close everything else.

Cloud flare offers a ton of free services like pages which you can use to quickly stand up a website. If you are hosting from home, cloud flare tunnels are the greatest thing ever. No one talks about cloud flare tunnels for some reason.

You run the service, then point a domain and URL at that local IP and port. Thats it, your service is live and proxied so you dont expose your IP. Its all through port 80 or 443 so you dont need to open ports. They assign SSL certs for you so you dont need to mess with that. You dont need to manage routes localy with NGINX. Just run a service on your local server and set up the tunnel. Done. Highly reccomend.

Wording of articles like this bother me. They make it sound like Elon is down there on the floor with engineers planning and optimizing manufacturing processes. All the work is done by either Tesla or Elon. Not engineers. Not teams of people with expertise, school and knowledge. Not hard working employees. Its all Elon Musk. Cool.

I'm another fish fan here. I find myself using lots of Linux instances and I'm too lazy to set up ZSH. Fish has most of what I need out of the box, the biggest being auto complete. I know I could set up some insane bashrc, configure tmux, zsh, make neovim like an ide and all I would need to do is copy a few files. But I'm lazy and I don't want to end up so specialized that I can't bounce from system to system.

This is an interesting take. As someone who always enjoyed the Mario voice, it never occurred to me that there were people that didn't enjoy it. That sucks because a frustrating voice can ruin a game for someone. There are many other Italian stereotypes fresh for the picking. I'm hoping they change it up and we get some baratone opera Mario.

You could also check out GraphineOS. its a privacy focused custom ROM. It may help with some of your problems. (And create others.)
I have a One Plus 7 Pro with a custom firmware. Android 13, latest security patches and all. Its better supported than most phones I have had in the past. And its still fast as hell. I highly reccomend playing around with your hardware a little before tossing it out. If you want help with installing custom Roms, hit me up.
