    Oh man I've been at a place that was obsessed with one of these to the point that you had to print out some fucking bird and tape it to your desk so people would "know how to talk to you".

    Yep, living the same hell. "The board needs a date!!!!!!!!" Fuck the board, fuck your idiotic features that nobody asked for, fuck my developers having to work nights and weekends time after time....

    I'm so sick of it, but I honestly don't know what's next. I've been programming since I was in elementary school, but now I despise tech.

    I think it was a series, there was a kid that makes a house in a hollowed-out tree. Think he has a bird pet or something. Part of it is him surviving the winter. Really got me interested in nature...

    Enduro for the 2600 is a fun endurance racing game. It features a day/night cycle and weather that changes the driving. I still find it a lot of fun!

    Not the first time I’ve seen this article, but each time I read it resonates deeply with me. The way they describe the day to day is very similar to my company. Here’s how we use “AI”:

    1. New massive feature request dictated by the business with an impossibly short timeline and zero customer validation
    2. AI used to build 20 different, disconnected UI prototypes that don’t match the design or UX of the software at all (but hey, don’t sweat the details, “you get the overall point”)
    3. 100 page requirements document generated with AI
    4. Jira cards created with AI based on the AI requirements document
    5. Jira cards worked by AI, PR opened with AI generated description
    6. AI used for PR review of the 50-700 files changed, maybe even used for visual QA
    7. PR merged, release notes generated with AI
    8. Human engineers blamed when things break the next morning

    Nobody looks at code anymore, considers the “why” behind features or intentionally designs an interaction. Its slop all the way down, but hey at least we’re hitting deadline after deadline (in part thanks to AI, but also thanks to 80 hour work weeks).
